Our Gull Lake location is looking for a full-time, seasonal Service Advisor. The Service Advisor is responsible for upholding the Your Boat Club’s standards. The Service Advisor is responsible for acting as the customer advocate, ensuring the correct information is recorded, filing paperwork properly, following through with the technicians, and providing status information to each service customer. They also manage the ordering, receiving, and selling of parts. This position will be responsible for the inventory level and turns for the parts department. The Service Advisor reports to the Director of Service but is managed day-to-day by the Location and/or Service Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet all customers in a cheerful, understanding, and timely manner.  

  • Must keep a clean work area to ensure the customer has a great experience.  

  • Perform a walk-around with the customer to verify requested repairs, collect serial numbers, and upsell any items needing repair.  

  • Ensure that a technician or staff member looks at the boat immediately. Decide whether to fix it now, make an appointment for another time, or have the customer leave the boat.  

  • Generate work orders for repairs needed, including providing the customer with a cost estimate and a timeline for the completion of repairs.  

  • Assist the Technician with preparing for the repairs and setting up the workflow process for a streamlined repair process.  

  • Keeping the customers informed and updated on the status of their repair, changes, and/or expected completion date.  

  • Responsible for the till and processing the customer bills, transactions, and part orders. 

  • Perform monthly/annual cycle counts for inventory, merchandise parts, and returns of any unused or unneeded parts.   

  • Maintain cleanliness of the parts room to ensure a safe work area.  

  • Other duties as assigned by the Location and/or Service Manager. 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Marine knowledge and experience is preferred 

  • Experience with generating estimates is preferred. 

  • Proficiency with industry-specific software 

  • Knowledge of digital technology, including the ability to use the internet and the appropriate software 

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal 

  • Ability to interpret technical terms to the customers 

  • Strong customer service skills to effectively handle customer complaints and questions. 

  • Strong decision-making skills and analytical thinking abilities 

  • Excellent critical thinking, organization, time management, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills 

  • The ability to handle customers with different personalities while being patient is crucial. 

Compensation:

Experienced candidates will receive competitive compensation. If training is necessary, a fair starting salary will be provided with excellent earning potential and opportunities for growth in the future.
