BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Teacher (DCF)
Department/Location: Programming
Reports to: Mentoring & Family Program Manager
Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt
Primary Function:
Planning and implementing comprehensive education and youth development programs that enable members to succeed academically, acquire 21st century workforce readiness skills, and develop a secondary and post-secondary education plan.
Key Roles (Essential Responsibilities):
- Ensures the success and operation of the Success Together program at Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County.
- Provide academic and enrichment instruction to an identified cohort of students.
- Works collaboratively with the BGCPBC team to ensure objectives and expected outcomes are met.
- Administers surveys and assessments, as needed.
- Maintains consistent communication with supervisor related to the Success Together program.
- Stimulates and encourages interest in education and career development activities and encourages participation by all members.
- Requests needed supplies using the Purchase Order form.
- Collects report cards at the end of grading period and delivers them to the supervisor.
- Maintains a system of internal evaluation including individual student records, report cards, attendance and progress reports.
- Creates and maintains Academic tutoring and lesson plans.
- Administers Hands on projects and afterschool academic support programs to participating members.
- Participates in staff meetings.
- Enforces Boys & Girls Clubs policies and program guidelines.
Relationships:
- Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise.
- External: Maintain contact and build relationships with community groups, school staff and community volunteers, and donors to support program success.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
- BA/BS Degree from an accredited, four-year university or college in a field related to education.
- Experience with Project Based Learning and curriculum development.
- Willingness to think outside the box; very energetic; a motivator.
- Excellent verbal and written communication & computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel required).
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
- Ability to use and incorporate computer-based platforms.
- Experience working with ELL/ESOL students preferred.
