Public Utilities Lab Operator
Job Description
Performs work in the maintenance and operation of wastewater plants and the pumping facilities. Performs collection and record keeping of water and sewer results.
DUTIES
The plant operator is responsible for maintaining all records for the lab, monitoring all equipment at the lab, performing all tasks that may arise without assistance, and performing emergency services. Must adhere closely to guidelines and perform routine duties without supervision. The operator will also be responsible for the maintenance of meters, wells, water tower, lab, and the sewer main.
Qualifications
Must have GED or High School diploma.
Good knowledge of operations and equipment used in water and wastewater facilities.
Must have a Class C wastewater/water license.
A minimum of three years’ experience in water distribution and wastewater management
Ability to stay up to date on regulatory requirements of Federal, State and local governments.
Work Environment
Work in hot or cold temperatures
Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Frequent amounts of walking, driving and sitting, kneeling, crawl into small spaces and able to bend.
Ability to work regular hours, after hours, weekends and holidays as required.
Handling hazardous chemicals and materials.
