Scale Service Technician


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, service, repair, and calibrate a diverse range of scale and weighing solutions.
  • Provide premium client service through a professional demeanor & technical competence.
  • Develop strong client relationships to drive new sales for the company and suggest solutions to clients' problems.
  • Work independently in a wide-geographic area serving a diverse set of clients with minimal oversight.
  • Become proficient in Handbook 44 and qualify as a scale technician in the company's three state footprint (NC, SC, VA)
  • Complete all required documentation (work orders, truck scale reports, calibration certificates, plant inspection reports, etc.) to time and quality standards.
  • Analyze testing and calibration results, including statements of conformity or opinions and interpretations. Accurately report, review, and authorize results.
  • Communicate often and clearly with the service manager throughout the workday.
  • Must also be able to visually inspect equipment, job sites, and vehicles.
  • Must be able to respond to audio prompts and alerts
  • Must be able to interpret and navigate digital screens and work-flows.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers, managers, and coworkers.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs individually.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience desired.
  • Technicians should have basic hand-tools necessary to provide day-to-day maintenance. Large capacity tools, scale specific tools, or other custom equipment will be provided by the company.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen.
  • A background check may be required for this position.
  • Mechanically inclined is considered a plus. Responsive communications with your manager, the team, and leadership is paramount.

  • Takes direction and guidance well in order to learn
  • Natural ability to converse with customers

Professional Certification

  • Handbook 44 training class (to be provided by company)
  • MSHA 46 (to be provided by company)
  • CDL preferred


Working conditions

The nature of the industrial weighing business is 24/7/365 and the scale technician will need to perform in special working conditions. Special working conditions include evening and weekend work, working out of town on overnight trips, working outdoors, working in and around industrial facilities across a wide swath of industries, working with challenging stakeholders, and so forth. Scale technicians will get dirty and should be comfortable with this reality.


Physical Requirements & Essential Functions

The job is physically demanding as the scale technician must be able to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects on a regular basis, perform repetitive tasks with few breaks. The scale technician must be able to access and clean scales as well as move 500 lbs by cart.
