Position Description:

The Site Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing safety programs, policies, and procedures on construction sites. This leadership role involves managing safety teams, conducting safety audits, incident investigations, safety training, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Program Leadership:

  1. Develop, implement, and manage site-specific safety programs and policies to meet company and regulatory requirements.
  2. Provide strategic leadership in driving a culture of safety excellence.
  3. Collaborate with senior management to establish safety goals and objectives.

Safety Inspections and Audits:

  1. Lead and conduct regular safety inspections and audits of construction sites to identify hazards, unsafe practices, and compliance issues.
  2. Document inspection findings, safety violations, and corrective actions.
  3. Provide guidance to site personnel on safety improvements.

Incident Management:

  1. Manage incident reporting and investigation procedures, including near misses, injuries, and property damage.
  2. Lead or assist in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective action plans.
  3. Maintain accurate records of incidents, investigations, and corrective actions.

Safety Training and Education:

  1. Coordinate and deliver safety training sessions and toolbox talks for employees and subcontractors.
  2. Monitor training compliance and track employee certifications.
  3. Promote safety awareness and engage in safety discussions with project teams.

Safety Compliance:

  1. Ensure that construction activities comply with safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  2. Enforce the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.
  3. Conduct safety compliance audits and follow up on identified issues.

Emergency Response:

  1. Develop and implement emergency response plans, drills, and preparedness measures.
  2. Serve as a leader in the site's emergency response team, if applicable.
  3. Ensure emergency response resources and equipment are maintained and readily available.

Safety Documentation and Reporting:

  1. Maintain safety documentation, including safety plans, permits, and emergency response plans.
  2. Prepare and submit regular safety reports to senior management and project stakeholders.
  3. Ensure safety signage and communication tools are up to date.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field; Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certifications preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction or industrial safety, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in safety software, Microsoft Office applications, and data analysis.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
