S.S. Equipment, one of the Northwest’s premier New Holland equipment dealerships, is seeking a full-time Service Technician. Due to the seasonality of our business, candidates must be able to work longer hours in the summer.


Applicants must have a valid driver’s license with no major driving infractions in the last 3 years.

Job Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Complete all work in accordance with company policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures without direct supervision. Determining correct parts needed to complete the task and order in a timely manner from the Parts Department, as well as returning all unused parts.
  • Communicating in a courteous and effective manner with customers, coworkers, and supervisors regarding all aspects of the work being performed.
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ability to use computer systems for time entry, preparation of service reports and other necessary paperwork.
  • Must supply own tools.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
  • Work extended hours with minimal notice Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to accomplish any of the following for long periods of time: sit, walk, stand, climb stairs; reach, lean, twist with product/equipment; push and pull product/equipment.
Requirements:

Applicants Should Possess:

  • At least 2 years diesel mechanical experience
  • Agricultural background
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Technician experience to include: Hydraulic theory of operation; Electricity theory of operation; Understand how a CAN bus system works.
  • Excellent customer service skills; including coordinating work, providing updates on progress, and collecting payment
  • The ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Computer skills with the ability to learn new software
  • Microsoft Office 360 software operational skills
  • Must have own hand tools to include; Air or electric power tools; Sockets sets from ¼, 3/8, and ½ inch drive; Wrench sets up to 2 inch or metric equivalent; Basic hand tools, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.

While performing the duties of the Service Department, employees are regularly required to work standing for extended periods of time, or all day. Frequently employees move, lift, and set up parts, tools, or equipment up to 50 lbs. Employees regularly bend and crouch to maneuver underneath the hood or undercarriage of a tractor or equipment to point out problems/repairs to customers. Occasionally employees unload deliveries up to 50 lbs. Occasionally employees put parts/tools away on multi-level shelving up to 50 lbs. Pulls parts/tools up to 50 lbs. when necessary. Employees are regularly required to use hands/fingers to operate a cash register, keyboard, or telephone. Employees are regularly required to use hands/fingers to operate small hand tools necessary to performing the duties of the mechanic or technician role. Service employees regularly speak and listen on the phone and in person, to a customer or fellow employees. Specific vision abilities required by employees of the Service Department include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
