Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ship Fitting Duties:
    • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings for marine construction and repair.
    • Measure, mark, cut, shape, assemble and install metal parts and components for ship hulls, decks, and superstructures.
    • Utilize a variety of hand and power tools, including shears, chippers, and grinders.
    • Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, and pry bars.
    • Inspect, repair, and maintain structural parts of ships.
    • Work with a variety of materials such as steel, aluminum, and composite materials.
    • Coordinate with other departments and team members to ensure the timely completion of projects.
  1. Welding Duties:
    • Use cutting torches effectively, minimizing the need for grinding.
    • Accurately read and use a tape measure to 1/16”.
    • Layout steel according to specific instructions.
    • Wash off welds properly to avoid pits or blow-outs.
Prerequisites:
  • Proven experience as a shipfitter in the maritime industry.
  • Familiarity with shipbuilding standards and safety protocols.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret marine construction blueprints and drawings.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina.
Required Tools:
  • Tape Measure, Speed Square, Striker, Cutting Goggles, Soap Stone.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Steel Toe Boots, Long Shirt/Pants, Safety Glasses, Gloves.
Education and Certifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.


Pay: $22.00 - $23.00
Must be available for day and night shift
