Job Description

  • Follow SOPs, guidelines, and standards.
  • Preform duties safely while identifying hazards, speaking up, and reporting.
  • Provide QA/QC data for drill patterns including maps, measurements, notes on patterns.
  • Proactively provide supplies to drills to maintain a more efficient shift. Drills should not have to wait on supplies. It is your responsibility to make sure that they are stocked with and extra bit, extra chuck, a bucket of extra Compressor oil, and any other supplies needed.
  • Track and fill water in drills to allow for dust suppression.
  • Maintain housekeeping of D&B areas, PM areas, Lay down area, Patterns, Drills (buckets, Bits, etc..), LVs, water trucks, and support equip. (loader & skids)
  • Assist the D&B supervisor in his plan throughout the shift.
  • Assist with the samples when necessary.
  • Take initiative in your role, See it, Solve it!
Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Able to lift 50lbs


Additional Information

Health and Safety

  • Develop and continuously promote strategic objectives and health and safety awareness programs to ensure all workers and site contractors understand their health and safety responsibilities.
  • Lead, advise and co-ordinate the departmental health and safety officers to deliver the site health and safety objectives.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and review of site policies, procedures, hazard management plans and standards.
  • Advise and assist senior management to establish business health and safety objectives, targets and KPIs that are fully integrated with the site’s business unit plans.
  • Facilitate regular hazard/risk management planning via regular risk reviews incorporating business unit hazard identification, risk assessment and control practices, and ensuring compliance.
  • Organize and conduct regular health and safety audits and workplace inspections.
  • Ensure that all health and safety documents are controlled in accordance with the relevant corporate standards.
  • Produce a monthly report for both company (and statutory) requirements.  Reports will include incidents, safety statistics, budget performance and relevant occupational health, safety, and training initiatives.
  • Assist the site management team to develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive Emergency Response Plan.
  • Always ensure a high standard of emergency preparedness by ensuring suitable numbers of site personnel are trained as Emergency Responders, ensuring equipment is regularly inspected and maintained in good working order, ensure regular training exercises and realistic scenarios are carried out; and regularly update procedures and call out systems.
  • Manage an effective on-site medical facility, ensuring adequate first aid and treatment resources are available at all times.
  • Co-ordinate MSHA liaison and host MSHA audits and investigations.
  • Maintain the requisite experience and credentials to act as the MSHA registered ID for Haile Operations.
  • Act in the role of Rehabilitation Coordinator, liaising with Department Managers, HR, doctors and the injured person to develop a structured rehabilitation program with the aim of returning the injured person back to full-time employment.

Training

  • Ensure gap analyses are completed of all training onsite to the role competencies.
  • Develop training and development plans for each role following the gap analyses.
  • Audit workforce against the training plans.
  • Develop adequate lesson plans for the workforce ensuring all business unit related training is mapped to the relevant standards.
  • Maintain development training plans for ongoing development and up-skilling of line management.
  • Develop strategy to access relevant government training and development support funding;
  • Conduct audits of the site training to ensure alignment and effectiveness.
  • Manage safety leadership training and ensure the training returns match the required outcomes and leadership behaviours.
  • Develop annual site training plan and budget.
  • Coordinate cost effective site wide training.
  • Review and update induction training packages across the site and ensure alignment with OGC corporate standard.
  • Ensure the development of standards and procedures for auditing contractor training.
  • Audit contractor training to ensure compliance with OGC and relevant standards.

Safety

  • Perform all work and associated functions safely:
    • Correctly use all PPE
    • Obey all written and verbal health and safety instructions
  • Establish and maintain the highest possible standards of housekeeping and cleanliness in individual work area and mine site in general
  • Attend pre-shift safety and toolbox safety meetings.
  • Complete Stop-Think and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) prior to undertaking tasks.
  • Report all incidents and near misses and workplace hazards.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) specified for particular equipment or tasks and be involved in the development and review/revision of procedures when required
  • Carry out all other duties that may reasonably be required.

  • Excellent problem solving skills with complex problems, including both definition of the problem and generation and evaluation of solutions.
    • Excellent planning and organisational skills, including goal setting, group performance monitoring and the ability to modify priorities where necessary to achieve these goals.

    • Effective written and oral communication skills, and the ability to convince others to co-operate and contribute.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
  • Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
