POSITION/JOB TITLE: Capital Projects Quality Manager

DEPARTMENT: Engineering & Capital Projects

DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Director of Projects

Location: Varies

TRAVEL: Extensive travel to project sites, vendors and contractor offices may be required.

POSITION SUMMARY: Total accountability for Capital Projects Quality

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, review and modify all QA/QC standards, specifications & requirements for vendor and contractors.
  • Clearly define quality, objectives and goals & communicates them to the team & all relevant stakeholders
  • Working with our customers; define & communicate success
  • Integrate the activities necessary to develop the Quality plan, execute the Quality plan & make changes to the plan as required for success
  • Develops quality success metrics for the project, and once set, manages the project to achieve those objectives
  • Review vendor and contractor ITP & SIPs to assure our needs are met. Suggest changes or established hold points
  • Measure and verify quality performance accepted practices, tools & techniques
  • Reviews deliverables prepared by the team before passing to the client
  • Works within our project teams to assure quality practices are used.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively to all team members
  • Effectively applies best-in-class methodologies and enforces project standards
  • Provides accurate and timely reporting of project metrics
  • Conducts and/or attends fabrication or construction reviews and provides key inputs.
  • Assures that project documentation is created, maintained & turned over to operations
  • Attends lessons learned activities to identify the success factors and future improvements.
  • Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Solid knowledge of inspection techniques, understanding of AWS and ASME codes and requirements.
  • Ability to manage inspections and records keeping
  • Understanding of safety, engineering, estimating construction.
  • Ability to prepare written reports & project correspondence.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to participate in resolution of complex technical issues.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS / WORK EXPERIENCE: AS in Welding Engineering. CWI, Minimum of 5 years of related industrial plant experience as an inspector.
