We currently have an opening for an EH&S Manager.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for carrying out day-to-day environmental, health and safety activities for the plant. The objectives of this position are to ensure compliance with the requirements of Federal, State, and local environmental regulations, develop waste minimization plans, coordinate emergency activities for the facility, and to develop cost effective solutions to environmental problems faced by the plant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Environmental Management Responsibilities including:

Air Quality Control Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that pollution equipment is properly permitted
  • Ensure compliance with provisions of permit
  • Ensure permits are current and accurate
  • Ensure recordkeeping requirements are met
  • Ensure that pollution equipment is in proper working order
    1. Standard Operating and Maintenance Procedures (SOMPs) incorporated into Preventive Maintenance Program
    2. Ensure regular bag replacement for baghouses, spare equipment in stock
    3. Monitor pressure differential gauges to maintain proper baghouse operation
    4. Routinely audit equipment for problems (e.g. check vents for visible emissions)
  • Understand and be familiar with regulatory requirements at both state and local level
  • Provide annual reporting to regulatory agencies as required (Emissions Inventories, etc.)
  • Participate in planning of new projects and obtaining new permits
  • Coordinate emissions testing as required
  • Act as liaison with Corporate HSE
  • Act as Technical contact with State and local governments
  • Provide regular training to maintenance, electricians, etc. regarding proper operation of pollution equipment
  • Pollution prevention

Waste Management:

  • Coordinate waste management activities
  • Act as technical contact for agency inspections
  • Audit and select waste management vendors
  • Update waste minimization plans for the plant
  • Facilitate plant waste reduction efforts

Wastewater Treatment System Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate waste treatment activities
  • Train maintenance and operations to operate system
  • Act as primary contact for agency inspections

Stormwater Management Responsibilities:

  • Compliance with general stormwater permit
  • Perform inspection and monitor requirements in the permit
  • Maintain Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (keeping current and accurate)
  • Fulfill recordkeeping requirements
  • Prepare required submittals
  • Renew permits as necessary
  • Train affected employees
  • Lead Stormwater Team
  • Implement Best Management Practices (BMPs) to minimize impact to stormwater

Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Management Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections
  • Leads SPCC Team
  • Train affected employees and SPCC Team
  • Ensure spill control equipment is available
  • Maintains SPCC Plan (keeping current and accurate)

ISO 14000 Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement ISO 14001 environmental management system

Industrial Hygiene Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate industrial hygiene activities with corporate
  • Determine IH Test plans in support of plant activities
  • Collect IH samples and interpret results
  • Implement Chemical Hazard Risk Assessment program.
  • Develop, implement and administer respiratory protection program, hearing conservation program, confined space entry program.
  • Develop and implement NOS Action plans
  • Evaluate incoming materials for environmental, health and safety impacts
  • Provide EHS Support for Research and development activity
  • Calibration of industrial hygiene equipment and environmental monitoring equipment

Safety Administration, Coordination and Support Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate FCD EHS Team
  • FCD Energy Champion
  • Maintain OSHA log
  • Maintain MSDS Sheets
  • Coordinate Safety Risk Assessment project
  • Coordinate with Production Manager the Job Safety Analysis program
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Manager the Electrical Safety and Machine Guarding programs
  • Coordinate and manage forklift program
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness program
  • Develop and implement training programs
  • Maintain training records
  • Accident reporting and investigation
  • Weekly safety audits
  • Coordinate EHS committee meetings and subcommittee meetings
  • Provide or coordinate plant safety training
  • Follow up on safety inspections
  • Participate in training programs to enhance environmental and safety performance
  • Perform assigned tasks as specified in the environmental procedures and work instructions
  • Understand the significant environmental impacts of my job activities and the consequences of departing from specified work instructions
  • Know where EHS documents are located
  • Other responsibilities as required
  • Incident Frequency Rate for OSHA Recordables
  • Reports to agencies

PROBLEM-SOLVING

  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks quickly
  • Must be able to effectively diagnose and solve problems
  • Must be proficient in using computer

KNOWLEDGE

  • 4-year degree from an accredited institution
  • Thorough understanding of environmental compliance regulations
  • Thorough understanding of occupational Safety and health regulations
  • Thorough understanding of industrial hygiene monitoring, evaluation and control
  • Experience leading environmental and safety at a manufacturing facility
  • Experience with managing environmental compliance of a manufacturing facility
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have excellent written/verbal skills as well as analytical and problem solving skills
  • Responsible for observing all plant standard operating procedures and safety policies
  • Responsible for teamwork communication with staff and management
  • Must participate in safety committees and activities
  • Must work safely wearing all required PPE
  • Occasional travel in the field
