Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Claims Management to join our team in Wooster, OH. The Director of Claims Management will play a crucial role in overseeing the processing and negotiation of all claims related to our moving services, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing excellent customer service.

  • Revenue Share Percentage: Upon exceeding the revenue threshold, candidate will receive a 3.5% revenue share of every dollar generated beyond the $80,000 mark

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Claims Management: Oversee the processing and negotiation of all claims related to moving services, ensuring efficient, fair, and timely resolution.
  • Compliance: Ensure all documentation, pricing, and claims handling comply with relevant state and federal laws, regulations, and tariffs.
  • Insurance and Liability: Possess a thorough understanding of transportation law and various types of insurance held by moving companies. Determine liability based on customer decisions regarding additional valuation coverage.
  • Valuation and Pricing: Provide accurate pricing for valuation and high-value items, ensuring competitive yet profitable rates.
  • Sales of Valuation Services: Actively sell valuation services during confirmation calls with customers, highlighting benefits and ensuring coverage meets their needs.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Track all claims payouts and valuation sales, preparing comprehensive monthly reports for both clients and management to review. Use these reports to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth.
  • Team Management: Hire, train, and lead a claims team, ensuring they are equipped to manage and negotiate claims effectively as the company scales.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Stay updated on changes in transportation law, insurance regulations, and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and informed decision-making.

Requirements & Preferences:

  • HHG or transportation claims experience
  • Proven experience in a claims management role, preferably within the moving or transportation industry.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations, and tariffs affecting the moving industry.
  • Deep understanding of transportation law, insurance types, and liability determination.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage sensitive customer situations diplomatically.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in tracking financial data and preparing reports.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in hiring and training a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively selling services and managing customer expectations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in logistics, law, or insurance are highly desirable.

Schedule/Hours:

  • This is a full-time position that may require occasional travel to attend industry conferences, or conduct team training sessions.
  • Flexible work hours to accommodate different time zones and client needs.
  • This job is remote as it is a subcontractor position
  • If candidate would rather a W2 and revised pay plan it will be happily considered
  • If W2 Working at the brick and mortar would be desirable
