Director - Claims Audit/Best Practices (Morristown, NJ or Hybrid)

In conjunction with the Senior Vice President of Corporate Claims this position works in the functional areas of Claims Audits, Claims Technical Training, Corporate Claims Regulatory Compliance and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Controls. Responsible for measuring and evaluating claims handling performance against organizational best practices and policies/procedures. Oversees the vetting, monitoring and auditing of all TPA entities and coordinates recommendations with divisions who utilize their services. Provides input into other areas, including but not limited to, claims handling procedures, regulatory issues, workflow and automated systems, staffing and metrics. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Job Description

What you will do:

    Develops and executes the annual audit plan for both C&F claims offices and C&F TPAs with a strong focus on non-W/C claims particularly Executive Risk and Cyber claims
  • Serves as primary auditor on Corporate Claims Audit Team and audit leader on C&F casualty TPA audits
  • Participates on W/C TPA audits
  • Partners with divisional claims leaders to ensure that the Quality Assurance Program ("QAP") is completed properly and timely
  • Provides evaluation of corporate compliance with the following objectives:
    • Bad Faith/ECO claims
    • Consumer Complaints
    • Trial Monitoring
    • Use of Approved Counsel
    • Use of Approved Vendors
    • Claims Authority Letters
  • Provides divisional claims leaders with feedback on execution of appropriate reserve development initiatives and develops action plans to help drive claims performance
  • Responsible for developing claims technical training modules and presenting training in most appropriate fashion (e.g., in person, video modules, Zoom calls, etc.)
  • Maintain documentation related to claims business controls in order to support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance
  • Participate in SOX test work, including annual walkthroughs, process documentation and test plan updates, and testing procedures
  • Primary claims point of contact for Internal Audit Department
  • Represents company in a highly professional manner and provides knowledgeable and exemplary service to the company in a claims capacity
  • Responsible for providing superior customer service to all internal and external customers encountered

What you will bring to C&F:

  • Prior claims auditing and/or familiarity with Riskonnect software is preferred
  • College degree required
  • JD preferred
  • Three to five years multi-line claims management experience required with a strong preference for Executive Risk, Cyber and E&O claims background
  • Prior experience in a claims training and development role is a plus
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills and collaborative interpersonal skills required
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Reviewing claim files will make up 80% of the job responsibility
  • Domestic travel expected (up to 10%)
  • Ability to learn and apply new concepts on a regular basis with minimal oversight

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $95,930.00 to a maximum of $159,880.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee's contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
