Shipping Manager

Summary

The Shipping Manager directs all aspects of the daily shipping and quality operations across multiple facilities ensuring the achievement of shipping objectives at the lowest cost consistent with the company quality standards and customer delivery requirements. This includes managing a team of shipping associates for both our Bancroft and Emmetsburg Iowa manufacturing facilities. You will be the one to ensure complete orders are shipped and delivered in a timely manner. A successful shipping manager will be a proven leader, is analytical, well-organized and excels in professional and respectful communication. They must be comfortable with paperwork and information systems and have a great knowledge of shipping procedures. The goal is to ensure that the shipping processes are running smoothly and effectively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Ensure all shipping personnel prepare, comprehend and verify shipping documentation.
2. Maintain accurate shipping records and prepare reports on shipping activities.
3. Ensure the review of shipments for accuracy and ensure shipments are properly packaged.
4. Champion employee engagement through coaching and development programs, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment while enhancing individual skills and career growth.
5. Proficient in OSHA and DOT regulations.
6. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize workload appropriately in order to balance multiple demands and meet timelines as required.
7. Collaborate with other departments to streamline shipping processes and improve overall efficiency.
8. Hire, train, and annually review employees per the company core values to maintain the highest degree of accuracy and efficiency in the shipping department.
9. Assign tasks and monitor the performance of shipping personnel to ensure efficiency and productivity.
10. Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and safety standards.
11. Train and mentor shipping personnel on proper procedures and best practices.
12. Continuously identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements to streamline.
13. Other duties as assigned.

Manager Responsibilities

Manage subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the shipping of company products. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Bancroft and Emmetsburg shipping areas. Carry out manager responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems per the company core values.

Job Skills Requirements

• Previous shipping leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including the knowledge and understanding of general production flow and quality.
• Must have strong leadership skills and ability to lead by example.
• Ability to read and interpret documents.
• Ability to effectively communicate and work well with coworkers.
• Working knowledge of budgets and financial systems is preferred.
• Background with manufacturing methods, MRP, process improvement programs and procedures required.
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing/ 5S Systems.
• Excellent leadership and administrative skills.
• Well organized and have multi-tasking skills.
