Job Description
Position Type: Part Time/Full Time

PURPOSE:

The Medical Director is responsible for psychiatric oversight supporting outpatient clinical operations. They will work in a community mental health outpatient setting, delivering compassionate, trauma-informed, psychiatric care, including psychiatric evaluation, consultation, and treatment to individuals with behavioral health issues.

FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide leadership and guidance on psychiatric policy, procedure, and treatment protocols to ensure alignment with best practice.

2. Oversee other psychiatrists, CRNP, and CNA (as applicable).

3. Consult with clinical staff and any identified supports to coordinate care and ensure a whole-person approach to treatment.

4. Conduct comprehensive, trauma-informed, biopsychosocial evaluations to clarify diagnosis, complete level of care assessments, determine the appropriateness of psychotropic medication, or to otherwise establish a more comprehensive treatment plan for individuals enrolled in programs at Intercommunity Action.

5. Provide compassionate and trauma-informed psychoeducation so that individuals can make the most informed choices about their care.

6. Administer and monitor psychotropic medications as psychiatrically indicated.

7. Provide routine medication management to all individuals.

8. Promote integrated care by consulting with primary care physician and other healthcare professionals.

9. Meet performance standards, including a minimum billing expectation of at least 50% of the hours scheduled to work. All progress notes need to be entered by the end of the business day on Fridays in order to have met this minimum expectation.

10. Refer for specialty care services, lab, radiology, and any other ancillary services that are appropriate for the individual’s care.

11. Complete all documentation in a timely manner and maintain clinical records in accordance with State regulations, Agency policies and procedures and managed health care requirements.

12. Participate in clinical team meetings.

13. Complete training as mandated by local, state, and federal regulations.

14. Practice in full compliance with agency policy and applicable laws and regulations.

15. Participate in Interact’s Compliance Program including reporting suspected violations of the compliance program or applicable laws or regulations to Compliance Officer.

16. Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Medical degree with active license to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

2. Board certified in psychiatry.

3. Completed Residency in General Psychiatry.

4. Preference to candidates with proven knowledge and experience in both General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

5. Unrestricted federal DEA license.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Comfortable utilizing electronic medical records for charting and prescribing purposes.

2. Clearances in accordance with PA Acts 33 & 80.
