Job Description
Position Summary
An Industrial Estimator will be responsible for providing estimates on labor, materials, and rental equipment needed to complete Industrial jobs in a way that complies with safety regulations, customer expectations and specifications, federal, state, and local ordinances, and also within time and financial objectives of Axcess Industries, the Primary Contractor (if one is involved), and the customer.
Major Responsibilities
Major responsibilities of an Industrial Estimator include:
- Meets with potential customer (at customer’s job site or views job site electronically) to gather details about the project
o Read drawings – if any exist
o Measure any dimensions involved in piping runs, platform dimensions, equipment locations, etc.
o Asks customer about their requirements and logistical limitations (i.e. safety or GMP requirements, safety training, certifications required, material specifications, documentation required, use of restrooms onsite, material storage, parking, etc.)
- Prepares takeoffs and details labor & material required to complete project tasks
- Organizes tasks in a list and estimates required time and labor needed to complete tasks
- Develops list of equipment necessary to complete project tasks.
- Determines if any equipment will need to be rented.
- Obtains quotes
- Contacts Industrial sub-contractor and requests a quote, if additional resources are needed
- Inputs all the above data into excel estimating tool
- Reviews takeoffs and all estimates with VP of Industrial
- If customer awards job to Axcess, the Estimator prepares project turnover information for Project Manager
- Meets with Project Manager to present turnover packet
- Meets with foreman to discuss and add detail to turnover information if foreman was not able to attend turnover meeting
- Continue to develop network of suppliers that can provide materials at an acceptable cost & lead time to support Axcess projects
- May project manage specific jobs
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a leadership position of a maintenance or Industrial millwright construction crew
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to receive and communicate project plans and Industrial specifications
- Ability to read and understand commercial and Industrial drawings
- Ability to clearly communicate project plans to skilled tradesmen
- Microsoft Office skills – Word, Excel, Outlook
- CAD
Working Conditions
This position requires the ability to:
- Work outside
- Work in loud manufacturing facilities while wearing proper safety equipment
- Interface with people at many different levels of the customer’s organizations
- Travel – weekly to local job sites (occasionally to other job sites in the US for a week at a time)
