This will be both a hands-on and oversight role. The testing and release of the equipment occurs during the week while overseeing the electrical contractors interconnecting and establishing power to machines of adjoining machines.

Location?   Lawton, OK

  • Start Date?    Have current need but must be available with phasing of project depending on available start date
  • Duration/End Date?   1 year
  • Number of hours/week?  Typical construction / installation supervision day is up to 10 hrs – Monday through Friday – weekend is required  for schedule recovery, plant shutdown work, etc.
  • Onsite vs Remote work?   Onsite
  • If our resource is not local, is there room in the budget for expenses?   Travel and per diem can be considered – local resources preferred

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

The Electrical Equipment Engineer will lead a small team to oversee the installation, commissioning, and start-up of electrical power, communications, and control systems for process equipment in the new plant.  The Engineer will manage and motivate contractors to complete the work on time, on budget, and according to spec, and will process field changes, communicate with others, and resolve technical questions.   In most cases, OEM engineer(s) will also be on site to provide technical support. The candidate will work in a construction environment under the direction of the Resident Engineer.

   

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manage risks and ensure that contractors complete the electrical work safely, to specification, on time, and on-budget.
  • Thoroughly understand the equipment installation sequencing, assembly details, budget estimate, job scope, and schedule.
  • Read and understand all manufacturer assembly drawings and instructions for equipment installation all electrical bid and construction packages, including scopes of work, specifications, and drawings.
  • Lead daily contractor meetings.
  • Effectively manage communications between the contractor, corporate engineers, and others to coordinate the work and resolve issues.
  • Conduct weekly calls with the process team and issue meeting minutes.
  • Assure that electrical installations meet requirements and standards.
  • Check key deliverables such as scope of supply, quality, workmanship, and functionality to ensure that systems are ready for use.
  • Perform administrative tasks including scheduling, budget management & cost control, issuance of weekly reports, parts management, etc.
  • Review and approve progress invoices and change requests.
  • Verify that all equipment drawings, operation & maintenance manuals and spare part lists have been received.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with the contractors, equipment suppliers, and engineers
  • Coordinate equipment commissioning activities with data management systems for production tracking and monitoring
  • Complete PSO (Process Sign-Off) for assigned equipment and manage punch lists.
  • Collect and maintain “as-built” information to reflect any changes made during construction.
  • Standard working time will be 5-1/2 to 6 days per week during construction.   Other hours may be required to meet deadlines or during the start-up and testing of new systems.

   

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of field electrical equipment installation experience
  • Good familiarity with the type of equipment in question
  • Good understanding of safe electrical work practices and proper workmanship
  • Technical familiarity with the following systems is preferred:
    • Medium and low-voltage drives and machine control systems
    • Pneumatic control systems
    • Hydraulic control systems
    • Vision systems for guiding and tracking materials
    • Gauging systems
    • Barcoding systems
    • Safety systems
  • Ability to read and interpret single-line wiring diagrams, schematic wiring diagrams, electrical equipment location drawings, plan drawings, installation detail drawings, PLC control logic, etc.
  • Ability to verify electrical drawings and installations for compliance with Goodyear, industry, and government standards and specifications
  • Familiarity with best practices for equipment reliability
  • Ability to develop testing requirements and lead electrical equipment checkout, startup and trouble-shooting
  • Familiarity with Gantt chart scheduling and software, as well as identification and mitigation of schedule risks
  • Experienced user of AutoCAD two-dimensional drafting software
  • Budgeting and capital forecasting experience
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective teamwork, maintain a professional demeanor, and foster positive relationships inside and outside the team
