About this job
Powell is an engineered to order manufacturer of switchgear. We are seeking a Senior Industrial Maintenance Technician in Southeast Houston for our 2nd shift. Schedule: Monday-Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm. The Maintenance Technician will perform routine and preventative maintenance and repair manufacturing and fabrication equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining advanced PLCs. (is a plus but not essential)
• Maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic circuits. (is a plus but not essential)
Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements
• Must be able to efficiently and effectively use a computer, CMMS and related software related to record-keeping and machine troubleshooting/maintenance.
• Must be capable of recognizing and understanding numbers and values and enter this information into an on-line database accurately.
• Strong mathematical ability is essential.
• Ability of strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair low voltage (12 v DC) - high voltage (480 v AC 3 Phase) electrical systems.
• Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand.
• Ability to work long hours and weekends.
• Must be self-driven and able to drive organizational change
• Must work well in a team environment
• Must be willing to learn and perform with minimal direction
• Must have mechanical and electrical knowledge
• Must have basic computer skills: Microsoft Suite
• Must be fluent in English with good written and verbal communication skills.
Working & Environmental Conditions
• Safety sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.
• Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (i.e., safety shoes, hard hats, bump caps, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required.
• Must be able to work from all type of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders, etc.)
• Working at heights usually no higher than 20 feet in the air on an elevated structure using proper lift equipment and Fall Protection Equipment.
• Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs or step ladders
• Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction
• Continuous standing and walking
• Able to use upper extremities frequently, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently
• Must be able to meet physical lifting demand up to 50lbs.
• Frequent use of hand tools and power tool
