We are looking for an exceptional manufacturing engineering technical leader to own the Design For Manufacturing (DFM) strategy and execution, enabling manufacturing scale for a new class of battery technology. You will drive the product and manufacturing systems simultaneous development, with the goal to enable rapid increase in manufacturing efficiency and volume. As part of our Assembly Manufacturing Engineering team, you will work closely with the product design team to develop manufacturing-ready products and create initial manufacturing processes. This role will be located at in Weirton, WV, which is just a short drive outside of Pittsburgh, PA

What you'll do:

• Drive the manufacturing engagement with the product design teams to define the manufacturability strategy for our new generation of battery products.

• In this role, you are the manufacturing expert, you are the advocate and approver for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) & Design for Assembly (DFA) during the product design process.

• Own the DFM process which navigates cross functional trades between product cost, performance, manufacturability and scale.

• Generate and collect Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback and build learnings to inform the product design and manufacturing development

• Drive our new product designs towards manufacturability in partnership with the design team, suggesting new design-fabrication solutions and assembly strategies

• Develop and source initial build tools and processes to support prototype builds. Participate in hands-on prototype builds.

What you'll bring:

• 10+ years of experience in a diverse product design and manufacturing environments.

• Demonstrated experience in developing assembly processes and tools for new products.

• Demonstrated experience providing DFM feedback and driving cost out of product design by making it more manufacturing-ready and suggesting novel assembly processes/strategies.

• Expertise in high-volume manufacturing line design, install and launch, as well as factory industrial planning.

• Experience in driving down manufacturing costs while maintaining or improving product quality for complex electromechanical assemblies.

• Outstanding organizational, communication, leadership, interpersonal and decision-making abilities.

• Design of prototype processes and equipment/tooling is a plus

• Experience with metal welding and joining, large assemblies features are a plus

• BS or greater in mechanical engineering.
