Job Description
Job Summary:
The Assembly Supervisor plays a crucial role overseeing and optimizing production processes, ensuring quality standards are met, and fostering a safe and efficient working environment. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, supervising staff, and contributing to the overall success of the assembly department.
Key Responsibilities:
· Production Oversight:
o Assist in planning and coordinating assembly/packaging activities of 5 products to meet production goals and deadlines.
o Monitor daily assembly operations, identifying and addressing any issues that may impact productivity.
· Quality Assurance:
o Collaborate with the Quality Control team to ensure products meet established quality standards.
o Implement and enforce quality control procedures and conduct regular inspections.
· Team Leadership:
o Supervise and provide guidance to production staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and safety regulations.
o Assist in recruiting, training, and evaluating assembly/packing personnel.
· Process Improvement:
o Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
o Work closely with the Manufacturing Manager to implement process enhancements.
· Inventory Management:
o Assist in managing inventory levels, ensuring materials are available for production as needed.
o Collaborate with the Supply Chain department to optimize inventory control procedures.
· Safety and Compliance:
o Promote and enforce a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations.
o Assist in safety training classroom and practice hands-on as needed.
o Investigate and report any accidents or safety violations.
o Must maintain personal first-aid training compliance.
· Reporting and Documentation:
o Prepare reports on production metrics, including output, downtime, and quality.
o Maintain accurate records of production activities and inventory levels.
· Cost Control:
o Collaborate with the Manufacturing Manager and manufacturing team to control assembly/packaging costs within budgetary constraints.
· Communication:
o Foster effective communication within the manufacturing team and with other departments.
o Report any issues or updates to the Manufacturing Manager and Director.
Qualifications:
· This role requires the candidate to be bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
· This role requires prior experience of at least 5 years in a manufacturing or assembly supervisor role. (Undergraduate degree or adult continuing education is a bonus).
· This role requires a hand on approach, willingness and ability.
· Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, and safety regulations.
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6S, Six Sigma a plus.
· Strong leadership and team management skills.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
· Proficiency in using manufacturing software and tools.
· A willingness to work flexible hours as needed to support production schedules.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift heavy objects when necessary.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to noise, limited chemicals, and varying temperatures.
