Job Description

Warehouse / Purchasing Manager

Reports to:

The Warehouse / Purchasing Manager is responsible and accountable to the General Manager.

Supervises:

None

Description Duties:

Manage and maintain condition of warehouse and supplies by developing and implementing inventory control procedures

Work with the Engineering and Operation departments to create and execute a strategic plan for sourcing critical spares and inventory; Daily interface with Engineering personnel, Port Captain, and Captains.

Maintain metrics and analyze data to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness of the warehouse and supply chain

Develop purchasing plan to implement company policies and objectives; Make recommendations to reduce cost and improve methods

Verify purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarify unclear items and recommend alternatives.

Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtain recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtain approval from requisitioning department.

Obtain purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitor and expedite orders.

Verify receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolve shipments in error with suppliers.

Authorize payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.

Assist in managing the "Qualified Vendors" list with proper execution and documentation of the "Vendor Action" form.

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

BS degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics; Or minimum 10 years' experience as a Purchasing Manager or Agent

Experience with vendor management software

Solid judgement along with decision making skills

Strong negotiation and networking skills

Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Knowledge of marine systems and operations a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in a sedentary office environment using standard computer equipment and applications, and other typical office equipment and communications devices.

Ability to travel infrequently.

Capacity to safety embark/disembark vessels

Ability to work on a warehouse environment
