Application Engineer II

Position Summary:

Application engineer position to support the growth of Regal Rexnord's IPS Gearing division in the North American market.

This position is responsible for selecting and designing gearing products for critical applications by working with the Field Sales, Customers, and Pricing and Marketing teams to support the development of technical proposals. Ideal candidate is customer-focused with a strong technical background and aptitude. They will likely contribute to competitor evaluations as well as various projects and key day-to-day tasks for the Gearing division.

Major Responsibilities:

• Effectively translate complex customer requirements into product designs and develop technical proposals for the customer.
• Manage a wide range of technical customer interactions and relationships.
• Develop solutions to complex customer requirements with a thorough understanding of design tools and application of products.
• Analyze customer requirements using engineering principles and practices.
• Cross-functional coordination and execution of significant sales growth opportunities.
• Interact with Sales team to obtain customer requirements and manage sales growth opportunities.
• Work with global teams such as sales, customer service, operations, engineering.
• Investigate and solve technical problems arising in design/engineering, manufacturing and quality.
• Design test plans and equipment to validate product performance or improvements.
• Follow Regal Rexnord Ethics and Safety Programs.
• Follow State and Federal Environmental Compliance Programs.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

• BS Engineering; BSME strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of design engineering principles and practices
• Ability to review and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• 3+ yrs experience in industrial product design or manufacturing environment
• Customer-related technical experience
• Professional, high-energy, inquisitive, with good communication skills
• Self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision
• Digitization and organizational skills
• Competent in Microsoft computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Undertake work in an efficient and timely manner
• Team-oriented and able to support multiple projects of varying size
• CAD design experience (SolidWorks/Creo/Solid Edge. AutoCAD) (preferred)
• Project management training (preferred)
• Rotating equipment design experience (preferred)
• Experience with industry standards such as AGMA, API, ANSI.... (preferred)
• Electric motor or VFD experience (preferred)
• Lean Six Sigma (Greenbelt, Blackbelt, or DFLSS) (preferred)

Travel:

• 20%-30% travel
