The Executive Director, Payer Field Team is responsible for leadership and the management of the organization's commercial and government Payer relationships (PBMs, Insurers, Medicaid, and the VA/DOD). The position will be an integral member of the Market Access Leadership Team and is responsible for communicating Jazz's portfolio, corporate and product(s) value proposition(s) with the Payer community. The leader of the Payer Field Team will achieve this by educating Payers as they make medical/pharmacy access decisions; this includes education on the value Jazz products provide Payers and their patients, and our competitive position relative to alternatives. This individual will lead a team of Account Directors and will devise and execute customer specific strategies to support the coverage, coding, and payment of Jazz's current and launch products. The position will integrate across the organization to align resources and strategic initiatives, ensuring patient and provider access to Jazz therapies in support of commercial launch and growth plans. This position reports to the Sr. Vice President, Market Access and is remote based with access to a major airport.

This role will require a seasoned pharmaceutical industry veteran that is knowledgeable of the US healthcare landscape and Payer practices, accomplished in field leadership, as well as leadership in mid to longer range/full life cycle market access strategy formulation and execution. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE ALL OR SOME OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Secures optimal Payer coverage/policy and reimbursement support for Jazz Pharmaceuticals products.
    • Engages internal parties to optimize idea generation and plan of action to implement strategic plans.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively present ideas and influence others to achieve desired results and to drive consensus.
  • Collaborates with the Head of Market Access Marketing to operationalize the overall market access strategy.
  • Functions as a member of the Market Access Leadership Team and is able to provide general management insights if needed to optimize the overall long-term mission of the Market Access function.
  • Partner with all senior BU marketing leaders/BU Heads and direct reports to collaboratively execute effective market access strategies for all key accounts.
  • Competence in the design and quality assurance of high-performance operating environment including the:
    • Manages and directs reports to develop and sustain important relationships in the marketplace (at senior levels)
    • Leads and develops high performance team with clear KPI's that meet organizational goals.
    • Acquisition, development, and assessments of Field talent.
    • Design and development of smart and lean processes to optimize the workflows of the group including appropriate performance management tools to ensure achievement of group goals and alignment with overall direction of Market Access function and Corporation.
    • Design, development and implementation of optimal contracting strategies and Payer coverage and ongoing assessment of the suitability of those strategies/coverage models (in compliance with good governance on contracting that aligns with corporate guidelines)
    • Implementation of tools and tactics to support Market Access strategies for use with third party Payers, including Managed Care organizations, Government agencies, and Hospital Institutions, as well as other customer types.
    • Use of specific analytical tools/decision support systems that may be utilized by Market Access and/or field sales to effectively manage account relationships and for pull-through initiatives.
    • Effective collaborative working relationships with external business partners, including consultants, and data analytics vendors, as well as internal departments such as Marketing, Sales, Analytics, Training, Medical, Regulatory, Legal and Compliance
    • Collaborates with the Business Unit Sales Leads to gather feedback and input on market dynamics, field needs and effectiveness of managed markets tactics.
    • Ensure that function operates in a fiscally sound manner in accordance with the objectives of the Corporation (financial and operating scorecards that provide leading indicators and aid in related variance analyses)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment with high expectations and accountability for the quality and timing of deliverables and KPI's to meet company goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/BA required along with 15+ years of related experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotech industry.
  • MBA degree preferred.
  • Payer Field Team leadership with comparable types of Payers that Jazz currently engages.
  • Prior experience in longer-term execution (including complex multi-year program management)
  • Experience managing vendors (i.e. data suppliers).
  • Skilled at team development and leadership.
  • In-depth knowledge of health care reimbursement practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Capable of engaging senior Jazz management on Payer, field operations and financial matters (prior performance and near term and strategic outlook).
  • Prior experience with budget development and control.
  • Extensive travel.

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive.

For this role, the full and complete base pay range is $248,000-$372,000. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, within the established pay framework and our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influence individual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on a regular basis.

At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
