Your Opportunity: Taylor Healthcare's Software Development team is seeking an adaptable and collaborative Manager, Software Engineering - User Experience & Requirements to lead our team in building user-centric healthcare applications sold to hospitals across the United States. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in defining the user experience, workflows, and business requirements. The position requires a "player/coach" mentality, contributing individually while effectively managing a team. You will report directly to the Vice President of Software Development and work closely with other key stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Translate the product roadmap into a prioritized product backlog, defining actionable business requirements for scrum teams.
  • Ensure user stories are actionable by software, QA, and DevOps engineers.
  • Lead the UX Designer(s) in defining and designing the User Experience, establishing UI/UX standards, and guidelines.
  • Ensure the developed functionality meets specified requirements through the validation processes.
  • Establish a network of market contacts to identify product opportunities and enhancements, acting as the voice of the customer; including attending industry events and conferences.
  • Become an expert in healthcare applications, understanding application architecture and capabilities with a strong focus on end-user functionality.
  • Responsible for hiring, establishing objectives, reviewing, mentoring, developing, retaining, motivating, disciplining, and when necessary, firing associates.
  • Stay current with healthcare and software industry trends representing a willingness and capability to quickly learning new technologies required for accomplishing project goals.
  • Flexibility is expected, responsibilities will shift as business needs change.

Collaborative Structure:

  • Collaboration with the Director of Software Engineering, Other Software Engineering Managers, Product Management, Strategic Architecture, THI leadership, and other Development leaders on application strategy and roadmap.
  • Work with stakeholders across the company in the planning of new development projects and roadmap; assisting with the clarification of requirements, development estimation, and other related activities.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Strategic Architecture to align on technical details and strategic vision.

You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or 4+ additional years of relevant work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in a healthcare environment or with healthcare applications.
  • 7+ years of experience defining user-centric functional requirements, preferably in an Agile development environment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in simple and straightforward language.
  • Work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, and adjust to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion in an agile software development environment.
  • Ability to operate effectively under conditions of ambiguity.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Healthcare Application Development.

We Would Prefer:

  • Experience leading the development of enterprise applications for external customers with a focus on user experience and business workflows.
  • Experience managing business analysts and/or UX Designers.
  • Knowledge of the use of Azure DevOps or other comparable system
  • Expertise in the Informed Consent process and/or administrative documentation in an Acute Care environment.
  • Familiarity with FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources).
  • Familiar with Scrum and Agile practices, with a preference for experience as a Product Owner or Scrum Master.

Additional Notes:

  • Travel is expected at approximately 10%.
  • US citizenship, as well as being based in the US (as required by some government contracts), is a must.
