Job Summary

Med-Tech Construction is a design-build construction company that specializes in commercial tenant finish outs in the Dental, Medical, Optical, and Veterinary industry. We are looking for a detail orientated individual to join our growing company as a full-time pre-construction position (estimator/draftsman).

Summary of Position:

The pre-construction position is responsible for estimating and drafting each project correctly in a turnkey construction group. This includes pre-bid site visit, determine the scope of work with quality take-offs, distributing plans and spec's to subcontractors, review and negotiating scope of work, and completing the final proposal. Also creating detailed scale plans, based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering specification, and millwork drawings.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Attending pre-bid meeting/site visits to acquire information to complete an accurate estimate.
  • Preparing a detailed budget and bid proposal based on determining the material and labor quantities.
  • Able to read blueprint and specifications provided by the clients, architect, and engineers.
  • Ability to interact, develop, and maintain a positive relationship with new/existing subcontractors.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Manage of permitting process
  • Produce shop drawings in AutoCAD in accordance with take-off, sketch’s, and pictures provided
  • Calculate and determine the correct requirements base on needs for MEP design
  • Revise and update existing drawings reflecting the design changes
  • Provide support to the field/office on questions or issues related to drawings
  • Complete designs and construction documents for construction and permitting.
  • Create and revise cabinet drawings based on clientele feedback.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Limited construction experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or MEP Engineering preferred.
  • Proficient skills in both Excel and AutoCAD (3 years minimum) required.
  • Excellent communication skills; listening, comprehensive, and feedback
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and multitasking
  • Motivated, detail oriented, and comfortable working in a fast paced office.
  • Proven ability to remain organized while working in a fast pace environment.
  • Detailed oriented with the ability to focus on quantity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret floor plans, MEPs and elevations
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD with design, architectural, and MEP’s
  • Familiar with local building codes and permitting process
