What you'll do...

This position serves as a technical liaison between the customer and the sales team, provides on-site or in-house training for new customers, and ensures customer experience of new machine deliveries is a world-class experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Willingly, consistently and professionally demonstrates the values of our company while supporting the company vision, mission and exceeding our customer expectations.
  • Provide application support and technical orbital welding and pipe fabrication assistance to current and prospective customers.
  • Manages the technical service interface with the customer; handles customer technical requests; answers technically based customer complaints; and serves as the technical resource for the customer.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to internal and external customers by developing and conducting in-house and/or on-site training seminars which may be focused on product installation and applications.
  • Assist the sales team in defining the needs of current and prospective customers and assist in the evaluation of customers’ special applications requests, and in developing quotes and BOM.
  • Determine and recommend appropriate solutions to customer field orbital welding problems.
  • Provide follow up support to customers by providing on-site training, installation, and applications support, on-site installation and training, and in-house training.
  • Work with Engineering to design solutions to customer’s requirements when minor modifications to standard products are required.
  • Function as a liaison between Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
  • Support Engineering during the design and development processes.
  • Willingly and proactively provides support to other assigned areas during times when customer training is light.
  • Handles stress in a professional manner, demonstrates the ability to get along with others, demonstrates successful attendance and punctuality, and works overtime / extra hours as required to meet business needs.
  • Travel as required, up to 50% or more as required by customer and business needs.
  • International travel included.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Journey Level Welder or equivalent education,
  • Training experience and/or in Engineering with 7+ years of experience.
  • Extensive experience in welding and a strong mechanical aptitude required.
  • An Innovative understanding of orbital welding machines and their applications, as well as tooling and machining practices.
  • Must be able to demonstrate machine’s operation and basic knowledge in welding and CNC applications. Excellent communication skills required.
  • Valid passport and driver’s license required. Solid driving record and insurability required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Office and travel have moderate noise levels. Machine/Product demonstrations and customer visits can have loud noise levels.

To meet customer requirements, the employee may be asked to travel in an airplane and/or vehicle to get to customer work sites. At times, this position walks on or through high elevations, underground and/or confined spaces, around high voltage and in heavy industrial and/or construction work environments such as bridges, dams, mines, power plants, ship yards, etc. The employee must be able to work in hazardous working environments with possible extreme working conditions to complete customer training and/or applications support.

Noise levels may be extreme and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and usage is driven by customer requirements. Other required PPE includes, but is not limited to, steel toe boots, hardhat and safety glasses. Customer working environments can be extreme in regards to height, confined space, physical requirements and hazards.
