Position Overview

This position would be responsible for the daily operation of the plant and supervising other driver but also able to deliver loads and batch concrete about half of the time (split will vary based on time of year and business levels). The foreperson supervises and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in the manufacturing of ready mix concrete including but not limited to quality control, delivery of materials and the safety of all employees. As a driver, you will be responsible for transporting of freshly mixed concrete from the plant to the job site in a safe manner. This individual will be responsible for making normal operating adjustments to the equipment and material being hauled.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

* Manages, and communicates with the Operations Manager, issues affecting personnel, safety, maintenance, production efficiency, product quality, current and upcoming projects, competition and pricing

* Establishes and meets customer order delivery times according to factors such as truck capacities distances to delivery site and fleet availability

* Ensures compliance with City, State and Federal regulations in all areas

* Comply with all Department of Transportation requirements including but not limited to licensing, vehicle inspection, and hours of service.

* Operates truck in safe and professional manner on public highways, roads, in the yard area and at various job sites to deliver materials.

* Inspects the truck as required at the start of each workday, completing the Driver Check-off Sheet which indicates that all systems are functioning properly.

* Maneuvers the truck up to deliver concrete to the point of delivery. Back truck under batching plant or hopper to receive concrete.

* Climbs the ladder, approximately 10-12 feet, on the mixer truck to view the load of concrete for consistency and amount, to inspect the drum for cleanliness.

Education/Experience

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Experience in the operation of ready mixed concrete facilities or other directly related industry experience preferred.

* Experience using TrackIt, SmartDrive and Command software preferred.

* Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Work Requirements

* Must be 18 years in age or older.

* Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. DOT Medical Certificate required.

* Report to the plant dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.

* Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

* Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.

* Regular and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays when necessary

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as delivery tickets, safety rules and procedure manuals as well as carry out written or verbal instructions.

* Willingness and ability to work in and adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs and other conditions that may affect their daily responsibilities.

* Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.

* Demonstrated ability to train, motive and lead employees.

* Basic knowledge of labor and employment laws.

* Demonstrate a hands-on, collaborative approach; work well in a team.

* Must be proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook.

Physical Requirements

* Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person.

* Able to utilize a tablet for load status, time keeping, training and other items.

* Regularly able to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

* Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

* Able to frequently stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear.

* Ability to climb stairs, ladders, inclined walkways and access elevated platforms.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, typical seasonal cold and heat temperatures. The employee is exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
