What will the service worker do?

The Mess Attendant is responsible for performing food service and custodial related duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that the facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.

What are the work requirements?

  • Position requires hours worked one (1) weekend per month

What are my Roles and Responsibilities?

  • Uses customer service skills, to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and all members of the general public
  • Responsible for the security of designated locations
  • Open and closes, locks and unlocks facilities as needed
  • Keeps records of work completed
  • Responsible for the collection of recycle bins located throughout the facility and distributed to the recycling center
  • Attendance at work is an essential function of this position
  • Performs food service and custodial duties
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Clean and care for buildings and facilities in order to ensure they are maintained in a safe and healthy manner.

What are my Main duties?

  • Mop tile and concrete floor areas
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas
  • Dust all furniture and fixtures as required
  • Wash and disinfect all washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, hand dryers and fixtures
  • Clean all mirrors
  • Replenish toilet tissue and soap as needed
  • Empty all waste baskets and garbage cans
  • Place garbage in outside storage bin
  • Clean entrance and exit including glass, doors and hardware
  • Cleans all required food services spaces, serving lines, food service display cases, food dispensers, food service equipment, cleaning equipment, and all other areas required in the contract
  • Wash all finger marks from walls, doors, hardware and glass
  • Clean break room sinks and counters
  • Perform all custodial and kitchen duties.
  • Ensure that all food operations are in compliance and following all safety procedures.
  • The ability to follow directions closely

What are the Physical Demands?

  • The role requires physical stamina for standing, walking, lifting objects, and tasks involving movement throughout the day.
  • Regularly lifting and moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally handle items exceeding 75 pounds.
  • Ability to remain flexible and adaptable in response to responsibilities and tasks.
  • Uphold a high standard of professional ethics, exhibiting respect, honesty and integrity in all interactions and tasks.
