Overview:

Assists the physician and office staff with performance of patient care activities consistent with the established standards of nursing practice. The incumbent in this position shall carry out his or her responsibilities and integrate into his or her work ethic the Mercy Philosophy of caring for the sick and suffering, respect for human life and the dignity of each person, applying Christian values to all crucial human issues in the area over which he or she has responsibility. In communicating with patients, families, visitors and co-workers, a caring, friendly, personal and professional approach is expected. Performs related duties as assigned.   • Room patients, vital signs Assists with procedures, EKG
  • Instrument maintenance and prep
  • Stock exam rooms
  • Documentation, scanning
  • Point of care testing
  • Basic in basket and refills
  • Communicate with physician or APP
  • Follow protected information policy, follow OSHA standards
  • Adopt PPE and Quality/Safety Policies
  • Medication reconciliation, injection administration
  • Schedule appointments, medical record releases
  • Diagnostic and ancillary order entry
  • Demonstrates knowledge of varying differences and behaviors among populations served
  • Coworker has one year of applicable patient care experience or applicable medical office experience
  • Phlebotomy
  • Precertification and prior authorization with insurance
  • Assist with referrals
  • Perform patient education according to policy
  • Able to perform competency reviews of other MAs if a Lead MA is unavailable


Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Education Preferred: Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant programExperience Preferred: One year of applicable patient care experience or applicable medical office experience as defined by the clinicNew hire must attend MA Clinic Academy trainingCurrent Medical Assistants who are moving to Advanced Medical Assistant title on the career ladder must complete MA competencies.
