Overview

Highly competent and skilled, a Sales Engineer will serve as a key technical resource for the MPG sales team. A sales engineer is expected to have a deep understanding of our products/services, be able to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and play a crucial role in driving successful sales engagements. Regular customer visits and trade show attendance is expected to represent the Marketplace business, estimated 25% travel.

Responsibilities
    Sales Prospecting: Conduct proactive outbound prospecting to follow-up on new leads through phone calls, emails, and other communication channels. This includes incoming quote requests, tradeshow leads and 3rd party leads, among others.
    • Manages and organizes all individual activities such as customer visits, opportunity follow-up, sales pipelines, call/visit report summaries, etc.
  • Technical Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of our products/services and stay updated on industry trends and technology advancements.
    • Attend internal and external trainings as appropriate.
  • Pre-sales Support: Work closely with other members of the sales team to provide technical expertise during the pre-sales process, including product demonstrations, presentations, and addressing technical inquiries.
  • Customer Solutions: Work closely with customers to understand their unique requirements and propose product solutions that meet their technical and business needs.
    • Knowledge and solutions shall include Standard product, relevant 3rd party product and modified standard options.
    • Work closely with MSG Sales team to hand-off and receive opportunities as necessary.
  • Quotation Support: Assist in the creation of customer quotations, documentation, and other materials to support the sales process.
    • Proficient in CRM and SAP to adequately support the customer.
    • Follow guidelines to develop opportunity specific market pricing.
  • Customer Advocacy: Act as a liaison between customers and internal teams, providing valuable feedback to Marketplace product development and other departments based on customer interactions.
    • Participate in Marketplace PODs as appropriate and actively engage in the Voice of Customer Strategy.
  • Post-sales Support: Collaborate with Product Support and Customer Service teams to ensure a smooth transition from quotation to order to delivery.
  • Market Research: Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and threats within the industry. Analyze competitor activities and market dynamics to inform business strategy.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
  • Results-oriented with a track record of meeting or exceeding goals.
  • Optics knowledge/optics industry experience required.
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with CRM software and other sales tools.
  • US citizenship or permanent residency (green card) required.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or hard science; formal training in sales, negotiations, and management highly desirable; minimum of two (2) to five (5) years experience in technical and/or business-to-business sales.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time; ability to travel; work in office setting.
