Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The RAPID division is the world leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. The company provides inspection solutions to both the mask shops and the semiconductor fabs to ensure that lithography yields are consistently high thus enabling cost-effective manufacturing.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

The RAPID division is the leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. We provide inspection solutions to both the mask shops and the semiconductor fabs to ensure that lithography yields are consistently high, enabling cost-effective manufacturing.

This mechanical design engineer will craft sophisticated Opto-mechanical inspection systems. The candidate will assume responsibility for the next-generation design, fabrication, and performance characterization. They will build technical relationships with vendors. They will have the opportunity to lead the design process, including requirements specification, feasibility studies, analysis and FEA modeling, conceptual and detailed design, detail drawings, design review presentations, procurement of prototype parts, support prototype testing and system integration, and handoff to manufacturing! They will also be responsible for the process of taking projects from design concept through manufacturing build and will detail and address all issues thru the product phases!

  • Create innovation of designs involving a combination of the following: precision mechanisms, Ultra High Vacuum systems, opto-mechanical design, vibration isolation, and electronic packaging

  • Develop a deep understanding of tolerance analysis, GD&T, error budgeting, flow up and flow down of requirements.

  • Develop skills in finite element analysis, creep and stress relaxation, modal analysis.

  • Perform relevant thermal analysis: heat transfer, temperature gradients, thermal transients, thermo-elastic analysis

  • Build vendor relationships: component fabrication, manufacturing process transfer, and qualification.

  • Select materials and resolving fabrication methods.

  • Good interpersonal skills to be able to work with engineering, manufacturing and new product introduction team members in a concurrent environment.

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of physics and mechanics.

  • Mechanical design, testing, and troubleshooting.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills are required.

  • Familiar with mechanical manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, etc.

  • Must be proficient in 3D solid modeling CAD. ProE/Creo preferred

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 6 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 8 years
