Plant Operator Level 1

As a Plant Operator Level 1, you will be responsible for using hand tools (i.e., blowers, shovels, brooms) to clean up debris in and around machines to ensure a safe work environment for all employees. You will also support machine operators and learn to operate production equipment. Operators work in an industrial environment that is hot, humid, and noisy and work around dust grease, oil and other chemical substances. This is a non-climate-controlled facility, meaning temperatures can be very high in the summer, and cold in the winter. This role operates twelve-hour shifts that include weekends, holidays, overtime and rotating shifts.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

• Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Perform housekeeping functions to aid in keeping machinery functioning properly, to reduce hazards and maintain the appearance of the plant.
• Operate production equipment and machinery.
• Work as part of a team to exceed safety, production, and quality goals.
• Perform quality checks and keeping designated work area clean throughout shift.
• Assist crew members with setups, troubleshooting, asset care duties and making minor machine adjustments.
• Complete preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Collect carbon samples using a grain thief.
• The ability to recognize different types of valves, instruments (P, T gauges, etc.)
• Must be able to operate equipment such as After Burners (TO’s), furnaces, boilers, conveyors, packed bed scrubbers, venturi, pumps, blowers, etc. via HMI, PLC or DCS.
• You will run the following tests in our carbon lab: Butane Activity, Iodine, AD, Ball Pan Hardness, PSD, Moisture, Open Cup ignitability and Abrasion Number.
• Collect and record data from gauges and indicators (weights, times, Temperatures, Pressures, etc.)
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 1 - 3 years of active plant operation experience
• Two-year degree from an accredited process engineering and technology college preferred.
• High school diploma or GED and can read, communicate clearly, and write.
• Experience with HMI, PLC, and DCS preferred.
• Ability work in an industrial environment as previously described that includes 12 hour shift schedules, rotating days/nights and weekends, with frequent overtime hours.
• Operate mobile equipment (forklift, pick-up truck, manlift, zero turn mower, etc.) and obtain mobile equipment certification.
• Perform the physical tasks as listed in the position.
• Possess experience troubleshooting equipment in a manufacturing setting (preferred).
• Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions.
