Plant Planner Summary of Responsibilities

Implement Overall Plant Process Flow Activities including: scheduling, eliminating overages in inventory, assisting with creating a continuous improvement environment and a high level of employee involvement that is conducive to achieving plant objectives. Through continuous and open communications with the IEC TEAM, performs all duties to promote overall operations plant effectiveness and customer satisfaction.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interface with all Departments
  • Support Hour by Hour Procedure to identify priorities and execute to meet weekly deadlines
  • Works with Customer Service on customer expedite requests.
  • Reviews the daily/weekly capacity plan with IEC Team to ensure daily production schedules maximize profitability and meet customer needs as first priority.
  • Analyzes production and processes data as needed to track improvement progress.
  • Promotes teamwork throughout the plant and addresses issues that impact teamwork between shift/Departments in the plant.  
  • Develop schedule For Extrusion, Anodize, Paint F& D and Fabrication. Investigates and analyzes production problems and bottlenecks concerning throughput and quality.
  • Communicates and take the lead in daily meetings and in decision-making to meet customer requirements and efficiency issues.
  • Fosters an environment of continuous improvement utilizing lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and 5S.
  • Participates in the Wednesday Weekly Leadership Team meetings.
  • Keeper of all department’s backlogs. In conjunction with die shop and engineering, determines what notifications are changed to work orders.
  • Participates in the monthly Resource Allocation Meeting with IEC TEAM.
  • Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
  • Responsible for material and inventory control on production floor, Alloy Supplier Billet Forecasts, receive alloy and Print labels. 100% material availability is the standard.
  • Responsible for Alloy cycle count and end of Month Reports to Corporate.
  • Update purchase orders for log & billet.
  • Review Log and Billet Invoices for Processing & Payments.
  • Close Log and Billet PO’s if all Invoices are Paid.
  • Steel Scrap Sales invoicing
  • Reconcile weekly. This will consist of (what needs to be converted to work orders), and review the backlog of the work orders to see what should be planned next and what work orders are already planned for scheduling.
  • Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings.

 

Overall Plant Process Flow: Tie the planning, to the die shop to the press to allow for a seamless process of operation:

·         Review Alloy Requirements and ensure sufficient Alloy to keep Extrusion Dept. running effectively.

·         Reconciling daily for Uncompleted Work Orders for Each Department. Reschedule based on new changing Priorities. and be very well prepared to (lead the daily production meeting)

·         Focus on implementing Extrusion + Die Shop. Should have all of the paper work on what is needed to do. (0 week; +1Week; + 4 Weeks)

         ·            Monitor extrusion schedule to insure what we are extruding is in sequences with scheduled work orders for Anodize, Paint, fabrication, F&D and shipping requirements. (True Pull System)

         ·            Prepares and distributes the department schedules accurately and timely.

         ·            Serve as single point of contact for any department. Shipping, Anodize, Paint, Fab, F& D and extrude to customer service.

         ·            All expedites should updated and communicated daily.

         ·            Track Late Orders for Each Department and review at the daily production meeting.

         ·            Track Overages Daily and find a solution to ship.

 

Critical to Quality and Growth:

·         Collaborate with IEC team members in a timely manner. Anticipate material requirements and proactively address any potential shortages or delays.

·         All sample orders should go out with proper paper work

·         Take on process improvement projects to ensure work performed addresses root causes of failures.

·         Tie Planning with the shipping department to establish a true pull system.

·         Level loading by Establishing a Kan Ban Level: In Front of Paint; Anodize; Fab; F&D and Mill finish. Modify Kan Ban Level as work load needs to shift to produce the most Efficient WIP. & allow IEC to ship minimum of 1.8million lbs. per Month.

·         Take a leadership role to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance material management efficiency.

·         Leadership ability to Engage, Communicate and motivate IEC Team members in a noncontrolling manner.

·         Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inventory levels & material transactions. Generate reports on material usage, consumption, and cost for management review.
 

Objectives after 6 month as an IEC Planner:

1.    Hold Monthly Meeting.  Review Current Month Performance and set objective for Upcoming Month.

2.    Customer Care Function - Consults with IEC customers as required (Open for in Person Meeting)

3.    Review all 15 Items listed at the Daily Production Meeting.

4.    Work with department leads to create visual displays of KPI’s on the plant floor.

5.    Strong Team Player - Maintains open communication and a strong functional relationship with outside sales.
