Outreach and Admissions/Career Transition Combo

Summary of Duties: Educates and works in partnership with individuals, communities, organizations, one-stops, schools, social services agencies, GAP partners, military services, and other training programs to promote and foster applicant referral and related services to ensure the Job Corps centers in your contract operate at 103% of contracted on-board strength.

Description of Duties: Key Areas of Responsibilities: Promotes positive Job Corps image and awareness of assignments in the community and in other areas as necessary: Conducts campus tours. Represents Job Corps at public and other community events, as well as at organizational meetings and in high schools. Joins and actively participate in at least one community group, i.e. Chamber of Commerce, Lions, Rotary, etc. Is familiar with and promotes/supports campus-wide compliance with DOL, Corporate, and Center initiatives.

Develops referral sources through agency and community outreach: Establishes referral partnerships with organizations, agencies, civic clubs, employers, the military, apprenticeship programs, churches, etc. that will refer eligible youth to the program. Implements Outreach Education Plan.

Recruits eligible youth to the Job Corps program: Submits a sufficient number of eligible applicant folders to achieve 103% of contacted on-board strength. Maintains a 90-day commitment of 95% of all students recruited to the program. Works in other areas as assigned.

Maintains compliance with DOL, Corporate, and Center policies: Provides all applicants with accurate information about the Job Corps program. Through face-to-face interviews with each applicant, obtains pertinent data and documentation prescribed in PRH chapter 1 to assess, verify, and determine the applicants eligibility and suitability for the program. Documents all information involving applicant eligibility criteria and additional enrollment factors in applicant folders and OASIS. Understands, implements, and complies with Chapter 1 of the Policy Requirement Handbook (PRH).

Responsible for conducting outreach and direct recruitment activities, interfacing with other outreach contractors, and determining student qualifications for enrollment in support of Job Corps Centers' Off-Center Training (OCT) program in compliance with government and management directives.

Responsibilities:

Ensures a high level of document data integrity adhering to all the requirements of customer and company.

Supports the Career Development Services System (CDSS) as it relates to an individual position, department, and overall goals.

Ensures that all Personally Identifiable Information - PII (including Department of Labor (DOL) issued Laptop) is securely stored at all times.

Conducts direct recruitment activities including speaking engagements. Attends, exhibits, and presents at designated events including neighborhood and county activities/fairs, job fairs, resource fairs, and other events as directed by management.

Develops and maintains linkages with referral sources such as colleges, school districts, human services agencies, youth organizations, recreational centers, DOL, national, state, and local agencies to identify potential students and conduct outreach activities.

Interview potential candidates to obtain information to support eligibility and complete applicant folders.

Follows up on student progress including length of stay and separation.

Coordinates and maintains communication with Career Transition Services (CTS) for coordinated support of outreach and placement.

Coordinates and maintains communication with Job Corps Centers pertaining to input needs.

Completes all required documentation in individual folders for enrollment per Program Requirement Handbook (PRH) and company requirements.

Participates in industry advisory councils and community relations councils as assigned.

Participates in student orientations for OCT inputs on Center or other locations.

Participates in OCT student information sessions.

Participates in the development of new and revised policies and procedures affecting outreach activities.

Promotes the development of Career Success Standards (CSS) by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students, and monitoring positive and negative behaviors.

Assist Centers and CTS with contacting UA students and non-responsive former enrollees and graduates when requested.

Provides additional assistance, as departmental needs identify, in meeting overall department goals.

Attends required staff training sessions.

Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills including personal responsibility and computer fluency.

Cultivates and maintains a climate that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.

Extensive travel by car to perform required job duties and responsibilities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree. Two (2) years of experience in sales, marketing, or counseling-related field.

Prefer Job Corps experience or four (4) years experience working with youth.

Valid State driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.

Good organizational skills; excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Ability to obtain and maintain a valid CPR/First Aid certificate.

Ability to communicate effectively and related to trainee population (age 16-24). Ability to inspire and motivate students.
