The City's Peter Kirk Pool has openings on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings, teaching deep water exercise. Classes take place at the Peter Kirk Pool. Positions are available for applicants 18 years of age and older with prior experience teaching in a group fitness aquatic setting. This position plans and teaches water exercise classes including warm-up, conditioning, cool-down, and flexibility/strengthening exercises. Also demonstrates routines and assists participants. Maintains a safe environment and ensures that participants follow safe exercise procedures.

Hours of Work

Work schedule to be determined with hiring manager based on program needs.

About the Classes


Deep Water Exercise classes are taught on Monday/Wednesday Evenings (7:30-8:30pm) and on Saturday Mornings (7:30-8:30am & 8:30-9:30am) between June-August. Candidates are encouraged to apply ASAP, position open until filled.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Good verbal, written, and telephone communication skills are required.
  • Ability to interact courteously with the public to acknowledge both compliments and complaints.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated good judgement in problem solving and responding to customer needs.
  • Proficiency in standard computer software, such as Microsoft Office Suite applications Word, Excel and Outlook
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

1. Instructor Certification Required-Preferably: ACM, NSCA, ACE, NASM.

2. Must have or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification by start date.

3. Must successfully complete a thorough background check as required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act.

4. Must be age 18 or older.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a community center setting, with high levels of noise and seasonal temperature extremes. Must have ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. Must be able to walk, climb, bend, and stoop to complete tasks.

Selection Process
