Job Summary: At Urban Wren our dishwashers plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and ensuring the smooth operation of our restaurant. This position requires attention to detail, efficiency, and a commitment to upholding high standards of sanitation and hygiene in a fast-paced culinary environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Dishwashing and Sanitization:

   • Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
   • Hand wash delicate items and cookware as needed, following proper cleaning procedures and using designated cleaning agents.
   • Inspect dishes and utensils for cleanliness and quality assurance before restocking for use.

2. Kitchen Cleaning and Organization:

   • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the dishwashing area, including dish racks, sinks, and storage areas.
   • Empty trash bins, dispose of waste properly, and keep recycling areas organized.
   • Assist with general kitchen cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces, as directed by kitchen management.

3. Supporting Kitchen Operations:

   • Assist kitchen staff with basic food prep tasks, such as peeling vegetables, portioning ingredients, and assembling mise en place.
   • Collaborate with cooks and chefs to ensure efficient flow of dishes and timely delivery during service periods.
   • Communicate effectively with kitchen team members to coordinate dishwashing duties and maintain a steady supply of clean dishes and utensils.

4. Adherence to Health and Safety Standards:

   • Follow proper food safety and sanitation protocols, including handwashing, glove usage, and temperature monitoring.
   • Adhere to safety procedures when handling kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals to prevent accidents and injuries.
   • Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to kitchen management promptly.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Previous experience as a dishwasher in a restaurant or food service establishment preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and familiarity with commercial dishwashing machines.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
