Description:
As a Manufacturing Engineer - Laser, you will be responsible for managing and leading multiple facets of production and operations of laser equipment and processes, including laser cutting, welding, marking, and surface treatment.

Responsibilities:
- Drives and/or supports all aspects of production and operations related to laser equipment and processes including laser cutting, welding, marking, and surface treatment.
- Collaborates with Manufacturing Manager & HR on recruitment and hiring of laser production personnel.
- Drives and/or supports on-time delivery via continuous improvement of laser-based operations through:
- Process Efficiencies
- Downtime reduction
- Scrap Reduction
- Development of Training Plans
- Development of a Consumables & Spare Parts List
- Collaborates with Maintenance for equipment repairs (planned/unplanned).
- Collaborates with the NPD team and supports the transition of new projects from NPD to production.
- Drives and manages the training, mentorship, and advancement of laser operators and technicians.
- Ensures all laser processes for new programs meet the established requirements (cycle times, efficiencies, quality, etc..).
- Drives or supports the execution of part, process, and equipment qualifications IQ/OQ/PQ.
- Drives or supports the development of protocols, reports, work process instructions, visual standards, training documents, setup sheets, parameter sheets, etc.
- Troubleshoots and performs root cause analysis and establishes corrective actions to resolve Problem Records and nonconformances in the process.
- Supports with the development of the scope and drives the implementation and qualification of new laser equipment needed to meet the increased capacity requirements for production.
- Reviews performance metrics and implements an effective process control environment with key metrics to meet operating goals (OTD, efficiencies, scrap, downtime, etc.)
- Works with all key members of the laser team to develop relationships and to establish disciplined, high quality job shop operations based on the core values of OKAY and high customer service.
Skills
- Excellent Technical Writing and Presentation skills
- Blueprint reading and understanding of GD&T
- Understanding of G&M Code
- Ability to conduct DOEs (Design of Experiments)
- Ability to troubleshoot processes and machines.
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Experience with the following programming software is preferred:
- SolidWorks, AutoCAD (DraftSight), Cagila (2D & 3D), Laser Welding and Laser Marking software.
- Understanding of how lasers and optics work, both from a theoretical and practical perspective.
- Understanding of statistical software and interpretation of statistical charts (Capability, Normality, Stability, etc.)
- Understanding of Medical Device Validation/Qualification Procedures:
- PPAP/IQ/OQ/PQ
- PFMEA, GR&R, Test Method Validations
- Control Plans, Process Routings
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Manufacturing.
- Experience in Medical Component and Sub-Assembly Manufacturing and Medical PPAP procedures is highly preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of Laser Processing including Laser Cutting, Welding, and Marking is highly preferred.
- Experience with custom machine solutions and automation is preferred.
- Experience with leading and managing people is preferred.
Education
- BSME or similar work experience
