**This position can be performed remotely for candidates who reside in ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, PA, WV, VA, NC, SC, GA, AL, FL, TN, KY, OH, IN, IL, WI, MI, MN, IA, MO, AR, LA, ND, SD, NE, KS, OK, TX, AZ, UT, NV, ID.**
Essential Functions:
- Plans and leads assigned pricing and modeling work streams and manages special projects, product development/pricing projects using actuarial modeling software AXIS
- Continually refines EMCNL's financial model by designing tests to ensure model match the desired intent
- Ensures the completion of financial and Asset Liability Management (ALM) projections using the financial model to project short- and long-term profitability
- Leads the development of highly-automated tools and systems which maintain the data integrity
- Leads the development of highly automated systems for standardized experience study reports along with a well-organized data repository to support ad hoc analysis used to establish assumptions for mortality, lapse, expenses, interest rates, etc.
- Provides expertise for cross-functional projects, including any topic being researched by the Special Opportunities Resource Team (SORT) or other EMCNL teams.
- Leads and conducts independent research and analysis and provides input and findings to various teams. Independently conducts lapse and mortality studies for use in setting assumptions.
- Makes recommendations based on analysis and communicates them as appropriate to EMCNL teams. Peer reviews work of other actuarial team members to maintain the integrity of the actuarial work product and outlines the timeframes in which the work is completed.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in actuarial science or math or related field
- Five years of actuarial experience
- 4-5 exams or equivalent relevant experience
- Additional experience, exams or graduate level coursework may be considered in meeting the requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent knowledge of statistics, probability and computer programming
- Proficiency in modeling, pricing, financial reporting and reserving
- Thorough knowledge of actuarial terminology, concepts and theory
- Thorough knowledge of Excel and Word
- Thorough knowledge of at least one computer language, such as R, SAS or SQL (SQL is preferred)
- Ability to effectively lead a team and special projects
- Excellent analytical, investigation and problem-solving abilities
