As the Senior Product Design Manager you will lead and grow a team of Product Designers in applying principles of design thinking to align our experiences and user interface to create interaction and visual design elegance in our web and mobile apps. You will represent the end user and evangelize human-centered methodologies across the product organization to ensure innovative designs that truly meet people's needs from first-time users to seasoned experts.

You will report to our Director of Product Design, and you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You will:

  • Help establish, articulate, and drive a vision for the future of Design at Smartsheet
  • Focus on crafting powerful experiences for both account administrators as well as customers, serving their needs to self-serve the management and deployment of their accounts across SMB all the way up to large Enterprise accounts
  • Strategically identify and prioritize product areas most in need of UX alignment, to create a cohesive and delightful experience for our users
  • Establish goals and target metrics that drive effective design decisions
  • Manage the day-to-day and strategic activities of UX designers, making sure that human-centered design processes are planned, followed, and documented
  • Manage, mentor and coach a team of Product designers in a supportive and inclusive manner, and motivate the team to high productivity and performance
  • Ensure a modern and intuitive product design by evaluating emerging UX design techniques and tools
  • Work closely with product teams to launch new features and evolve existing ones based on an understanding of user needs, business objectives, roadmaps, and technical constraints
  • Test ideas and rapidly incorporate user and team feedback
  • Establish quality processes to ensure the design execution and engineering implementation are high quality and reflect the design intent of the Experience Design team on behalf of our users
  • Participate as a thought leader across Smartsheet and within Design, playing a key role in shaping the culture of the Design and Product organization
  • Support other duties as needed

You have:

  • 7+ years experience designing exceptional experiences with a strong information architecture, interaction, and visual design skills
  • 5+ years of people management
  • Systems thinking experience-you understand downstream impacts of design decisions, and possess a knowledge of how to use industry-standard tools and methodologies to lead design strategy and execution on complex systems
  • Experience collaborating with a research partner to define and lead execution on research strategy to inform strategic direction and evaluate the effectiveness of our solutions
  • Experience finding simple, innovative solutions for complex problems
  • Experience with SDLC models that holistically incorporate user experience
  • Expert in Figma and other UX and prototyping tools. Ability to create task flows, wireframes, prototypes and other interaction design deliverables
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully with teams across the company, and leaders at every level of the organization
  • Ability to articulate design decisions and advocate for the user at all levels of the organization

Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive incentive opportunity and some roles may be eligible for a RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $189,000 to $264,600 | All other US States: $175,000 to $245,000
