Job Description

Performs a wide range of radiological, environmental, safety, and health work to achieve compliance with the Company's standards and with federal and state regulatory requirements. Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary to ensure personnel and facility safety. Conducts trend analysis, audits, accident investigations, and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment, and materials. Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize the hazardous potential. Develops and implements programs and record keeping systems to track and evaluate personnel injury and illness experience. Conducts employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs. Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice. Maintains working knowledge of specific requirements imposed by government agencies.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a technical, engineering or science related field; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a technical, engineering or science related field.

Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations (1910 and 1926).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office software.
  • Ability to review data sets for injury and illness and efficiency tracking systems.
  • Ability to Identify and communicate safety and health trends.

Pay Range
$55,000 - $84,200 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
