Machinist

Basic Functions:

Under the guidance of the Machine Shop Foreman, the machinist takes rough forgings and plate and

transforms them into machined tube sheets, flanges and covers. These completed units are used later

in the process to produce bolting flanges and closures on shell and tube heat exchangers.

Major Duties:

1. Sets up raw material onto the chuck/machine
2. Adjusts tools
3. Runs horizontal boring mill; runs lathes; operates drill presses; operates milling machine
4. Checks lubricating fluids periodically
5. Performs preventive maintenance on the mill
6. Inspects finished product
7. Corrects defects as required
8. Completes daily production sheets
9. Drills bolt holes as needed
10. Miscellaneous duties as required
11. Perform the assigned tasks in a safe manner, avoiding all unsafe practices

Qualifications:

Knowledge —

High school diploma or equivalent experience.

Knowledge of machining practices.

Experience in Fab shop needed

Skills —

Read & write the English language; must comprehend & use geometry & algebra; able to read &

interpret drawings.

Working Conditions —

Heat, chemical exposure, pinching hazards, standing for prolonged periods of time, kneeling, some

climbing and must lift 50-60 lbs.

Work Authorization —

Legal authorization to work in U.S.

Pay dependent on experience.
