Sterile Supply Attendant Services at William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC), Central Material Service (CMS) and any of its outlying clinics located at Fort Bliss, Texas. WBAMC will also be referred to as the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). SPECIFIC TASKS: The contract CP shall perform essentially the same duties as those required of any government sterile supply attendant/ technician (civilian or military) of similar experience in a similar duty assignment. Such duties shall consist of, but are not limited to, the following: Disassemble, sterilize, decontaminate, and make minor repairs on surgical instruments. Assemble instruments into specific cases using inventory/control lists and report missing/broken instruments. Store, stock, and issue surgical instruments and supplies by preparing case carts in support of the MTFs surgical procedures. Ensure decontamination/sterilization is accomplished in a timely manner and in accordance with manufacturer’ specifications and/or industry standards. Review schedule of upcoming surgeries and ensure that the appropriate instruments and supplies are available to surgical staff by 7:00 a.m. on the day of the scheduled surgery or no later than 45 minutes prior to the start of each individually scheduled surgery. Identify and report damaged and/or missing items in writing to the Chief or Non-commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of the CMS so that replacement items can be obtained. Inform the Chief or NCOIC of CMS of any issues or equipment malfunctions which may preclude the provision of contracted services in accordance with the terms of this contract. Perform all duties in a safe manner and in compliance with governing directives so as to meet all Joint Commission standards. CP shall accomplish all administrative requirements which may include, but are not limited to the following: Advise the COR of any problems encountered or anticipated in connection with meeting the needs of the MTF mission. Continuing problems of any nature shall be reported by the contractor CPs in writing to the COR. Adhere to the Center for Disease Control guidelines concerning universal precautions and the MTF Infection Control Program at all times while providing services under this contract. Perform all duties in such a manner that they meet all Joint Commission standards. Become familiar with the hospital formulary. Contractor personnel shall attend all and take all training prescribed for personnel as required by WBAMC. Training shall be part of the workday. Quality Control/Assurance. The contractor is required to follow current Quality Control/Assurance plans in place at the medical facility in the performance of this contract. CP under this contract is considered key personnel and mission essential. This means the CP shall make every attempt to be at work on time and work their assigned shift regardless of inclement weather conditions or other circumstances. Some staff may be granted leave or a few extra hours before having to report to work during inclement weather but such leave or delayed reporting does not apply to CP under this contract. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: CPs providing these services shall have the following requirements, at a minimum: Be a graduate of an accredited program of instruction (CBSPD or CRCST certifications) OR a military training program for sterile processing of reusable medical equipment/sterile processing technician/or surgical technician and have at least one year of full-time experience within the last two (2) years performing the tasks described in paragraph 8 of this performance work statement. Requirements CP shall be a U.S. citizen or otherwise meet the requirements of AR 25-2, Information Assurance. CP shall not have been convicted of a felony. CP shall successfully complete a criminal history background check. CP shall be capable of independently lifting objects weighing as much as 40lbs. Have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. The American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is the only program accepted. BLS recertification shall be maintained in a current status at all times while the CP is performing services under this CP shall be able to read, write, and speak English in a grammatically correct manner and enunciate with sufficient clarity to effectively communicate with patients and other health care employees. CP shall demonstrate ability to apply critical thinking skills and possess organization, problem-solving and communication. CP shall possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that he/she can relate constructively to a variety of patients from diverse backgrounds.CP shall possess the ability to operate a personal computer utilizing Microsoft applications, such as Internet Explorer, Outlook, Access, Word, Excel, CP shall use the various clinical automation systems as required, such as, but not limited to Composite Health Care System (CHCS), Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Ambulatory Data System (ADS), and Defense Medical Human Resource System – internet (DMHRSi).
