The Comcast Network and CONNECTivity (CONNECT) organization is a highly agile, fast-paced, dedicated group at the forefront of change focused on innovating, building, and operating the best in class, most reliable access network for our customers.

About the Team

Optek’s distributed team is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of critical hardware and software applications used by 20,000+ field technicians to diagnose and repair customer-impacting issues within the Access Network. Optek also develops and maintains multiple RF monitoring software platforms. These tools provide near real-time analysis of Comcast’s 50 million cable modems and associated network components, detect problems, and notify the correct fix agents. This software developer will be joining our team focusing on the hardware side of our software development team.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work and communicate effectively with Lead, Mobile team and full stack team for integration efforts.
  • Implement additions/enhancements and bug fixes to the firmware deployed on Comcast proprietary hardware.
  • Work with hardware vendor to integrate new changes to the Firmware for the hardware
  • Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment.
  • Seek opportunities to tweak areas of the code base to improve efficiency and performance, maintainability, and/or flexibility of the design.
  • Package and support deployment of software releases in a timely manner and work with Quality Assurance team to ensure that the application fits specification and technical requirements.
  • Organize and participate in peer-reviews and participate in paired programming, and other team cadences.
  • Efficient in the analysis & troubleshooting for production issues & code deployment activity.
  • Write and edit technical documentation, including but not limited to software designs, technical manuals in collaboration with Senior developers within Team.
  • Prototyping new hardware and firmware
  • Experience in building quality and secured code adhering to best practice and industry standards.

Skills & Experience We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of Software Development Experience with a focus on C/C++
  • 5+ years of Embedded C/C++ Software Development on Linux/RTOS
  • Proficiency in version control and CI/CD using Git
  • Familiarity with web application structure, including Restful APIs and JSON/HTTP/HTTPS/JWT
  • Experience in debugging, performance profiling, and optimization.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer Science, or equivalent in work experience and self-study

Preferred (Nice to Have):

  • Knowledge of modern OS coding techniques, IP protocols, and hardware interfaces.
  • Experience with a complete life-cycle of an embedded software system.
  • Hands-on experience deploying code to hardware
  • Networking knowledge
  • Familiarity with fiber optics or RF (Radio Frequency)
  • Understanding of AWS software development, including EC2, SNS, and SQS
  • Knowledge of Restful APIs and web socket programming
  • Experience with Agile Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Understanding of database structures such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
  • Familiarity with cross platform development systems.
  • Familiarity with RDKB development
  • Familiarity with software configuration tools.

Salary:

Pay Range: This job can be performed in Denver Campus with a Pay Range of $132,863.56 - $208,354.23
