Job Description

The Certified Medical Assistant must be able to scribe notes for the provider. Meaning you must be able to type at minimum 40 words per minute and transcribe what the doctor is saying while with the patient. You will be responsible for fulfilling a myriad of back and front office duties at the front desk including both check in and check out, collecting co-pays, insurance verification, including taking surgery payments, posting correct charges, scheduling, patient communication. You will also coordinate patient medical care to include, but is not limited to, phlebotomy, rooming the patient, and who has worked with getting approval for treatment and processing claims, check-in, check-out, answering telephone calls, verifying insurance benefits, scheduling and confirming appointments, collecting copays, deductibles, and co-insurances, handling incoming and outgoing correspondence, processing requests for medical records, triage, obtaining vitals and other pertinent information from patients, assisting providers with exams and procedures and scribing notes for the physician or Physician Assistant. You will assist with transcription, and managing supplies and equipment. We’re looking for a self starter who is looking for a home with a welcoming and compassionate character who works well independently and as a team player, thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys delivering excellent customer service with a smile. If you have experience scribing for a provider, and experience as front desk & back office professional who can proficiently support team members, managers, physicians with general operational tasks, you might be perfect for this position.

The daily operations of the Medical Assistant includes but are not limited to:

  • Patient communication: scheduling new and follow up patients.

  • Must be able to scribe notes, and type at minimum 40 words per minute

  • Collecting patient payments and posting correct charges.

  • Rooming patients, charting, phlebotomy, setting up for procedures, and medical equipment.

  • Answering phone calls, sending out reminders and confirming appointments.

  • Checking voicemails, emails, faxes.

  • Verifying insurance and updating information in EMR.

  • Chart preparation and collect data.

  • Must have a general understanding of insurance policies.

  • Ability to learn CPT coding.

  • Ability to obtain prior authorizations and knowing how to maneuver through the pre-certification process.

  • Explaining products and services to patients.

  • Entering information into EHRs.

  • Must be familiar with medical terminology

Compensation and Benefits: This position is an hourly position. The salary is competitive and dependent on experience. SOCAH Center provides 10 days of Paid Time Off (PTO), 10 Paid holidays and offers medical, vision, and dental insurance after 90 days.
