Job Description

Job Summary:

The CT Technologist at MUSC performs diagnostic computed tomography (CT) scans to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role involves operating CT equipment, preparing patients for procedures, and ensuring image quality and patient safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform CT scans in accordance with physician orders and department protocols. Prepare patients for CT procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns. Position patients correctly on the CT table and immobilize them as necessary for optimal imaging. Operate CT equipment to capture high-quality images of the designated area. Monitor patients during procedures and intervene as needed to ensure their safety and comfort. Review CT images to ensure clarity, accuracy, and proper anatomical coverage. Document and maintain accurate records of procedures, patient information, and radiation dose. Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare providers to interpret and analyze CT findings. Maintain cleanliness and functionality of CT equipment and work area. Adhere to safety protocols and radiation protection measures to minimize exposure risks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in radiologic technology or related field.
  • Current certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Additional certification in Computed Tomography (CT) required or obtained within specified timeframe.
  • Valid state licensure as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a CT Technologist preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating CT equipment and associated software.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality patient care and maintaining patient confidentiality.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for operating CT equipment and manipulating patient positioning devices.
  • Visual acuity and color vision to assess patient conditions and interpret imaging results.
  • Ability to lift and move patients as needed for positioning and assistance.
  • Stamina to handle a demanding workload and adapt to schedule changes.
  • Compliance with safety protocols and infection control measures to prevent injury and transmission of pathogens.
