Simpson is looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic and seasoned team. Position Overview: The Senior Accountant for our Non-Profit Senior Living organization plays a crucial role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. This role involves a combination of accounting, financial reporting, analysis, and collaboration with various departments to achieve the organization's mission.

This position will be 5 days a week in office at the Simpson Resource Center located in Bala Cynwyd PA

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting and Analysis:

    • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
    • Provide timely and accurate financial reports to internal management.
    • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  2. General Accounting:

    • Record, reconcile, and analyze financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant industry standards.
    • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data by conducting regular audits and reconciliations.
  3. Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Assist in the annual budgeting process by collaborating with department heads to develop accurate and realistic budgets.
    • Monitor budget performance, identify deviations, and provide recommendations to align spending with financial goals.
  4. Internal Controls and Compliance:

    • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Assists with annual audits and coordinate the preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
  5. Accounts Payable and Receivable:

    • Assists accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense reimbursement.
    • Manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliations.
  6. Financial Systems and Technology:

    • Utilize accounting software and financial management systems to streamline processes and enhance accuracy.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to system enhancements.
  7. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with other departments, such as Human Resources, Operations, and Fundraising, to ensure accurate financial reporting and alignment with organizational objectives.
    • Provide financial insights and guidance to support decision-making at all levels of the organization.
  8. Special Projects and Initiatives:

    • Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives related to financial analysis, process improvements, and strategic planning.

  5. Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address financial challenges and provide innovative solutions. Ability to assess complex financial situations and recommend appropriate actions.

  6. Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. Ability to collaborate and provide financial insights to various departments and management levels.

  7. Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Human Resources, Operations, and Fundraising. Effective teamwork and relationship-building skills to achieve organizational goals.

  8. Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting software and financial management systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Ability to adapt to new technologies and tools for improved financial processes.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a non-profit or senior living environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Matrixcare ,Paycom) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across departments.
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision.
