Alera Group Retirement Plan Services (RPS) is a premier provider of defined contribution and defined benefit plan consulting and administration services.  We are a division of Alera Group, Inc., a diversified financial services company offering solutions in Employee Benefits, Property & Casualty, HR Consulting, Retirement Plan Services, and Wealth Services.   

 

With billions of assets under our advisory, we service a wide variety of retirement plans including 401(k), profit sharing, defined benefit, cash balance, 403(b), 457, PEP and deferred compensation. We work with plan sponsors on plan design, employee education, investment analysis, benchmarking and fiduciary plan governance.

 

The Retirement Sales Executive should be comfortable with Investment Advisory, Defined Benefit, non-qualified plans, and Defined Contribution solutions. They will be responsible for all aspects of the sales process from prospecting to closing business. Build relationships and drive profitability, satisfaction, and organic growth.  


  • Primary focus on new business development and driving sales. Includes lead generation campaigns, cold calling, letters, etc.
  • Achieve annual production requirement. 
  • Drive consistent and predictable profitability and organic growth to support overall revenue goals.
  • Seek out new relationships with various plan sponsors, centers of influence/strategic partners, producers, and sales representatives around the country.
  • Develop relationships on a local and regional level to ensure wide distribution of products and services. Includes various plan sponsors, centers of influence/alliance partners, producers, and sales representatives.
  • Use Alera resources to research prospects and develop customized messaging for prospects.
  • Understand and explain Alera’s competitive differentiation to clients and prospects.
  • Manage multiple facets of the sales process. Includes meetings, materials, follow-up tasks, phone calls, proposals, presentations, and closing business.
  • Actively participate in meetings on preparing for first appointments, advancing, and closing business.  
  • Develop and oversee preparation of proposals for Alera prospects. Includes gathering necessary information and working with department heads and consultants. 
  • Compile and respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Assist in the completion of RFPs that are deemed good fits for the organization.  
  • Pursue cross-selling opportunities to enhance prospect and client relationships.
  • Participate in Alera sales training programs

  • 5 years + experience in the financial services industry. Institutional and retirement plan sales experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must hold Series 6 (or 7), 63 and 65 (or 66) licenses and local state insurance license or willing to obtain.
  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time based on territory.
  • Strong financial aptitude.
  • Personable, highly motivated and goal oriented. Driven to achieve individual sales goals.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • A consultative, positive, and resourceful approach to dealing with prospects, clients, and associates.
  • Excellent listening skills with strong customer focus.
  • Ability to deal with senior level management and have a top-level executive presence.
