The Trauma Services Program at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center is seeking a psychologist to join a vibrant PTSD Clinical Team.  The Vision of the Trauma Services Program is to provide the most comprehensive, effective, and culturally competent assessment and treatment of PTSD for our veterans.  The Washington DC VA Medical Center, located within sight of the Nations Capital, is the only health care system that specifically provides care to Veterans.  Offering tertiary care in a Complexity Level IB hospital, allows our staff to provide comprehensive primary and specialty care in medicine, surgery, psychology and psychiatry. 

  • Providing evidence-based individual therapy for PTSD, based on provider experience and training, to include Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Written Exposure Therapy (WET), CBT for PTSD, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), and/or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
  • Providing evidence-informed individual and group therapies, based on provider experience and interest, to include Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Present-Centered Therapy, Race Based Stress and Trauma therapy (RBST), Mindfulness, CBT for Depression, CBT for Insomnia, CBT for Nightmares etc.
  • Conducting structured psycho-diagnostic assessments and treatment planning sessions.
  • Writing clear, concise notes.  Completing encounter billing procedures efficiently.
  • Utilizing tools such as Collaborative Decision Making and Measurement Based Care.
  • Working collaboratively with other team members in Trauma Services Program to ensure high quality, effective, Veteran-centered services at the Veteran and programmatic levels.
  • Participating in clinical consultation, administrative staff, and supervisors meetings.
  • Supervising psychology interns, externs, and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Providing consultation to providers and teams outside the Trauma Services Program.
  • Engaging in Gold Standard VA Training and Consultation programs to gain expertise in evidence-based psychotherapies.
