We are seeking an Electrical Distribution Designer to become an integral part of our team! This position is responsible for performing complex detailed designs of overhead or underground electric distribution systems. This work includes the preparation of field notes, drawings, bill of material, cost estimates and permits. This job operates in an office environment, but fieldwork is necessary to meet with customers and clients. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with time management skills and with the talent to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Responsibilities:

  • Create schematics using GIS and AutoCAD for residential and commercial projects.
  •  Ability to perform field surveying of existing electrical utility conditions.
  • Ability to stake jobs for construction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with other Designers and Engineers to support our clients’ projects and need by dates.
  • Use of company vehicle, and required maintenance.

Minimum ​Qualifications:

  • 3 years of related electrical design experience.
  • Specialized courses or certification in drafting, design, and engineering practices
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Arc FM, MicroStation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with other disciplines to ensure overall design accuracy.
  • Good driving record.
  • Extremely self-motivated with high attention to detail
  • 0 - 1+ years of distribution design experience with a utility or consulting engineering firm.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree with an emphasis in electrical design
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word
  • Demonstrated ability and/or experience with GIS systems and AutoCAD.
  • Experience working in field and office preferred.
  • Recent graduates considered.
