Job Description

We are seeking fire sprinkler foreman and fitters to join our team for the installation of new systems and repair of existing systems. We install all types of fire sprinkler systems including wet, dry, deluge, and AFFF systems in hangers. The majority of our work is on military bases. Applicant must be able to pass a security background check.

Kannapolis Sprinkler Company is seeking motivated individuals looking to learn or further their knowledge of fire protection systems. Job Summary: We have positions available for both Fire Sprinkler Foremen and Fitters.

FIRE SPRINKLER FOREMAN:

Qualifications:

  • This position must have a minimum of 5+ years experience
  • Must be able to run work independently
  • Provide leadership for the complete installation of the fire sprinkler system
  • Manage specific installation projects assigned by the Project Manager through working hands-on with the sprinkler fitters and helpers.
  • Must be able to direct work as well as be a working foreman.

Responsibilities:

  • Must have good knowledge of NFPA 13, 20, and 24.
  • Knowledge and ability to install fire pumps, wet/dry systems, deluge, preaction
  • How to set/reset dry valves
  • How to drain and test an existing system, etc.
  • Must communicate design and coordination issues and problems with the Project Manager.
  • Ensure all preliminary and final testing has NFPA 13 Test Reports filled out
  • Produce red-line drawings of field changes for Final As-Built Drawings.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are safeguarded and maintained.
  • Schedule maintenance and be responsible for the company truck

 

FIRE SPRINKLER FITTER:

Qualifications:

  • This position must have a minimum of 0- 5 years of experience
  • Assist their assigned foreman with the installation of water-based fire protection sprinkler systems.
  • There are no specific or formal education requirements for this position.
  • Previous experience is preferred but not a requirement

Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to measure correctly, prepare/fit pipe and install pipe
  • Able to run a power machine to cut and thread pipe
  • Operate power tools and dope fittings
  • Cut all thread rods
  • Read blueprints and fire sprinkler drawings to assist the foreman and other fitters with the installation of the system.
  • If you do not have experience you will be trained.
  • Fitters are responsible for site clean up, staging, and distributing work material
  • Assisting the foreman with loading and unloading material
  • Assisting in cleaning messes or scrap pipe
  • Assisting with cleaning and inspection of tools, and being responsible for the tools provided to do your job.

 

Physical Demands:

  • The physical requirements of this job require that the individual regularly stand, sit, walk, twist, reach, stoop, and speak.
  • It also requires the capability of using hand and eye coordination.
  • The position requires the individual to occasionally walk across rough, unfinished, or unstable surfaces at construction sites.
  • The position requires the individual to frequently lift up to fifty (50) pounds, while occasionally lifting up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
  • The physical senses of sight, hearing, and speech are required.
  • Vision requirements must be sufficient in order to read measurements from a tape measure or other small measuring tools and details from construction drawings.

 

Work Environment:

Work is regularly performed at job sites in which working conditions will vary, requiring the individual to work in a variety of outdoor conditions. These conditions can include, but are not limited to, hot, cool, cold, humid, rain, freezing rain, and possibly snow. Steel-toed boots, hard hats, protective gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and reflective vest are required to be worn on the job sites.

 

This position requires daily travel to the job site and staying out of town
