Job Summary (Primary function)

The Director, Corporate Counsel - Global Technical Operations provides general legal and compliance support to the Global Technical Operations business unit at Incyte.

Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)

* Provide clear, pragmatic and high quality legal and compliance advice on a wide range of business activities relating to the GTO business.

* Act as the reference lawyer (with minimum guidance) for sub-groups/departments within GTO, as may be assigned by this person's direct supervisor and/or the head of the Legal Department.

* Lead contract drafting, contract reviews and negotiation of development and commercial agreements.

* Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of compliance initiatives necessary to support the business.

* Lead role in the development and maintenance of Incyte's Global Trade Compliance Program.

* Chair and organize Compliance Committees as may be assigned by this person's direct supervisor and/or the head of the Legal Department.

* Lead role in supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of Incyte's Global Anti-Counterfeiting Program.

* Maintain current understanding of laws and regulations applicable to technical operations, and ensure it is shared among the Legal Department and clients as needed.

* Develop, manage and oversee implementation of policies, procedures and processes related to supply chain operations.

* Manage compliance training records and conduct and/or track annual, routine and new hire training.

* Develop and roll-out Legal and Compliance training and communications planning and strategy.

* Contribute positively to a strong culture of business integrity and ethics.

* Coach and support the development of other member of the Legal and Compliance Department.

Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)

* JD as well as bar admission and active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.

* 7-10 years legal experience in a law firm (life sciences/healthcare) or in-house at a multinational life sciences/healthcare/pharmaceutical company.

* 5+ years of experience as a member of a global or business unit specific Compliance Department, or equivalent experience.

* Thorough understanding of and familiarity with the Company's business, products, manufacturing and supply chain operations and utilizes that knowledge in guiding internal clients.

* Broad knowledge of product development, manufacturing and supply chain operations in a pharmaceutical company, as well as the statutes, regulations and guidance documents applicable to these activities (e.g., GxP, Swiss, EU and US FDA Regulations).

* Broad experience advising company management regarding programs and policies.

* Broad experience in Global Trade Compliance laws and regulation (Sanctions; Export Controls).

* Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex or technical content in a convincing way to non-legal audiences, and provide balanced advice regarding risks.

* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals up, down and across the organization.

* Excellent analytical and organizational skills with a flexible mindset and can-do attitude.

* Exceptional judgment and maturity; capable of properly assessing risks and proposing successful solutions, knowing when to escalate matters, and capable of taking a firm stand when necessary.

* Self-aware person who can prioritize and delegate work effectively and successfully manage customer expectations.

* Ability to identify and implement effective and innovative system- or process-level improvements to drive efficiency.

* Proactive "self-starter" who is results-oriented and capable of taking the lead on projects to drive clear and timely outcomes.

* Solid business acumen, gained through professional training or prior experience.

* Ability to work in a fast paced and highly regulated environment.

* Ethical and respectful of others.

* Ability to travel up to 30%.
